I took an office job, thinking it would be a chill nice environment where I wouldn’t get over anxious and stressed every 5 minutes. Boy was I wrong. Not only has this job overstressed me, it’s literally completely different than what I thought I’d be doing. All I want to do is quit. I think about it everyday. But I have nothing to fall back on until somewhere else hires me. Which could take another month. I wish I listened to myself and said no to this job offer. But I have no money to just quit. It’s just one big cycle that keeps you in the system. I feel so depressed, so stuck, and I just want this all to end.

What does open budget mean?
I saw the job post na ang sahod is P50,000. Then I got a call ng same job and said the budget is “open” daw depending on the right candidate. I am hoping to get P150,000. Realistically, open ba talaga sila to P150,000? or I should not waste my time with them?

This is a rant/vent sesh mostly. I'm an expat in the US (37 yo) – Midwest, Bible Belt… Springfield, MO. Married to the most amazing woman on Earth. A year into our marriage (nine years ago) I met a guy from my own country here. He was a big shot in a company here, like a son to the owner, etc. He got me a job there. Amazing guy, one of the most genuine and loyal people I've ever met. I worked my way up from an $8.00/hr warehouse job to now working in their Sales department as a salesman, making 55K a year after comission. I do inside and outside sales both, including cold calling. We've got new, more corporate management. Lots of changes. New CEO is a “My way or the Highway” kind of guy. All the people I started there with or worked with on my path…
I work at a Planet Fitness doing graves. Initially I was part-time for $11 but our night guy got enlisted so I saw an opportunity to get a raise and more hours while also being able to study during the night because it’s typically slow and gym goers are chill as fuck. I didn’t get my raise for 3 weeks which pissed me off but I really like my manager and didn’t wanna make shit harder for him by quitting. A week ago I saw a job listing one city over, for the same company, same position, same hours. Posted at $16 to start. That location is 5 minutes south of this one and under a different franchise. Here’s the issue…. That location is currently closed for maintenance. And we’re taking ALL of their customers for the time being. I’m making 4 dollars less while tending to the customers of…
I’ve worked at this job for a little over a year and office morale has been low since I started. The complaints are usually the same from almost every secretary and it all stems from the officer manager and how she runs the office. She is never consistent, she’ll tell you one thing then expect something else, she’ll let certain employees get away with anything but will get mad with others for any small mistake or issue. We have a girl who works our front desk which is an important hub for our office. It’s the first place where most of our paperwork and documents gets filtered through to our secretaries. She just turned 19 and is also the daughter to one of the supervisors in our office. She was hired a year ago but still makes frequent mistakes, loses documents, and is constantly behind on her work. Her job…
Is the IT industry doomed?
I live in EU, but always worked internationally across EU/UK and with the US market. In the past year, I think the IT industry has reached its new low. Lots of layoffs, very competitive and mostly it turned into an “employer market” because of the huge pool of talents around (yes, the same one who were laid off). What is your view? I have more than 10 years of experience in very sought after tech stacks and industries and I struggle to even land an interview. Thanks

Specifically the building I worked in from 2017-22. 4 coworkers in critical condition at regional hospitals for burns and other injuries. Corporations do not care about you, you're expendable as long as they profit. Low quality picture, but was more concerned with evacuating at the time. Obviously the local news channel has got a statement from the company, but it doesn't really say anything other than ” yes our shit blew up and people are injured”. The company does what they can to kill all bad publicity. Same company involved in the plot of the Matt Damon movie The Informant.
