Month: September 2023
I worked at this company before as a seasonal hire with a year and half job gap in October 2022. Last week I went to the same company with less than a year job gap and I have experience for the same position I was applying. The interviewer asked I looked old enough to have previous jobs. I told him, I had these jobs and so on. The interviewer was like “Why didn't you stay at those jobs?” I said, “looking for new opportunities.” The interviewer said: “We have no opening for you, we are looking for someone with a stable position.” Is there some type of discrimination? I know I am qualified for the same job I had before.

I work for a financial services company. I was hired over a year ago as a new analyst and went through an extensive interview process. I interviewed with two managers and a the chief of our department, who to this day are still my bosses. Fast forward to today, our CEO has done a roadshow for different business TV programs for a new product we have. He makes no mind to hide the fact that he detests remote or hybrid work, saying something like “Our firm goes to the office and was the first to do so after COVID” yadayadayada. After he made such comments, his HR henchman came to our satellite office on a Friday only to find, guess what, most people weren’t working in the office that day. This apparently went up the chain of command rather quickly, and our department had a meeting. Apparently, my department has…

Switched from salary to hourly
I started my job in January of 2022. So I’ve been there for over a year and a half. In this time I’ve had 6 supervisors (1 retired, 2 restructures, 1 quit, 1 fired). They have restructured my position 2x, given me more responsibilities, and no increase in pay for them. I was given a 3% raise at 1 year, which is to be expected AT LEAST for an anniversary imo. HR called me last week to tell me that it was a mistake that I was hired salary, and should be hourly. The organization is based in another state, and the people who hold my title there are hourly. HR claimed it’s because of when they file taxes, it needs to be the same. (but it wasn’t a problem last year when they filed taxes I guess?) I know this is obviously an unstable environment. My question is, is…
Workmans comp issues
So i got hurt at work struck in the jaw by items that fell off a shelf. Filed a comp claim and doctors are basically telling me its tmj and this injury set off tmj. So ill basically have jaw pain that gets progressively worse thoughout the rest of my life. Ive been waking up during the night because the pain is so bad. They just keep throwing muscle relaxers at me and telling me its my fault because im grinding my teeth or clenching my jaw at night. Im suppose to see a dentist and they will apparently give me some more options like a mouth guard to sleep with. Some bullshit, im considering talking to an attorney if this shit job gave me lifelong pain i feel like i deserve some compensation idk. Anyone think i have any grounds to pursue a lawsuit i know this isnt necessarily…
22nd Anniversary of 9/11
Never forget the workers who were ordered to stay at their desks, or return to their desks, in the South Tower, for the 15 minutes before the second hijacked plane hit.
