I worked as an afterschool teacher in an elementary public school February 2023. to June 2023. Summer break came by and on the last day before summer break occurred, my employer told me “We will stay in touch” and how she would definitely let me know when the fall school term starts. The school term already started on Septemember 7th and i have not gotten any information/email from her about my shift or anything. I sent her an email trying to follow up with her about my shift and when the first day starts and if im still considered and got no response from her. im planning to call her tomorrow to confirm my status since she did not respond to my email. I got in touch with a coworker via text and she told me how she had her shift emailed to her and went in this week for…

Anyone else “quiet quit” from the start
I somewhat unintentionally quiet quit (hate that term) from the beginning because I am a slow learner. It also helps to set their expectations low LOL I don’t feel too bad because they ask for way too much in interviews nowadays and we both know I was BS’ing. By the time a pip happens I’ll either start improving or just get another job
Saw my job posted online
I was being harrassed by a group of customers, ended up crying, and walked out of my shift early. I guess I'm not stable enough to handle customer service, and that was my bad for accepting the job. My supervisor hugged me and told me it was okay, but I saw a job ad for my position posted online. This is for a small business and I'm the only person in this position so there's a 90% chance I'm just being fired. Should I tell my boss I saw the ad (he would know I was looking at jobs though) and ask about it or just wait to be fired so I can get unemployment?
Oh you've come in every time we've asked and you work hard to make the workplace better and more convient for management? That's nice but you took some time off for personal use, so we're giving that promotion and more money to the new guy because he's buddies with the manager. Sucks to be you!
Chomsky on UBI
So my city's sanitation workers are on strike for a living wage. I plan on standing with their action. However, a couple of things are happening and I am wondering what I can do in this situation. 1) The city is hiring scabs to pick up trash (GFL, formerly Waste industries). It's an insane move by the city, why not use the crazy amount of money GFL is charging to PAY THE WORKERS??? 2) My family tries not to produce a lot of trash, mostly recycling, and compost, but it is piling up. I was thinking of taking it to the dump on my own, or using the dumpster at my job. Is any of this hindering the workers on strike? What can I do to help them? They are not union (we are the worst state in the US for workers), they are all not making enough to live…
Context in a nutshell if it matters: I'm a contractor for the government. I'm eyeing a job that pays slightly (potentially significantly) more that would allow me to stay at home. Current job wants us to come back to office work but paying for fuel, food, insurance, etc. would put a strain on my budget not to mention how stressful that is / time lost driving, getting ready, etc. You know the drill. I like my current job and this new one seems very similar but WFH and with more money, so I'm suspicious it's too good to be true. When i see “agile” i read it as “stressful, asking for more work than you're paid for, unreasonable.”
Do I have a right to be over my job?
Let me start out by saying I know the current workforce is shit and everyone is affected. I’ve currently been with my current employer for a little over 15 years and have only missed 3 unscheduled days off in that time, once when I pulled a muscle in my back at home in which I missed a day the went back to work, twice when my mom died last year in which I went to work the same day then took to days bereavement to get her affairs in order. I’ve currently been a department head for 11 years and my currently job location, store management, and department employees are less to be desire. My employees call out all the time and come in late regularly and will not work more than they have too. I consider myself a fair boss and give everyone a set schedule to plan accordingly…
