Work is asking me to wait to the end of my shift to eat. I’m hypoglycemic. What do I do?

So, I work as a cashier at a pizza place. My shifts are typically at or just under 6 hours–the longest period they are legally allowed to work me without in a break in my state. At first, I was allowed a meal whenever service was slow provided I clocked out. However, that's no longer the case–they're cutting down to 2 cashiers and don't want to leave just one alone on there. So now, I have to wait until the last 30 minutes to put an order in and eat after my shift. I am hypoglycemic. It's not that serious, but I tend to get hungry every few hours. And six hours? Even if I ate just before, around hour four I'm starving. And when I get hungry, it's not a matter of feeling uncomfortable. I can sweat, become lightheaded, and there's even the chance of passing out or something…

Suddenly went from hourly to salaried with no notice?

I've been on the job for about three months now, originally hired at a rate of $20 per hour. But recently, I took a look at the latest payroll and noticed something unexpected: I've been reclassified as a salaried employee, with an equivalent rate of $21 per hour for a standard 40-hour workweek. While it might seem like a nice surprise, I have some concerns about this change, particularly the fact that nobody consulted me about it. I'm also worried that it might come with increased responsibilities and longer hours. The work itself is generally manageable, but my boss can be a bit unpredictable. They often assign random tasks when they see me with some downtime. As a result, I've learned to keep my workload light and work at a slower pace. Oddly enough, this approach seems to satisfy my boss's expectations so far. Honestly, I don't see myself sticking…

Mini rant. Checked LinkedIn today, almost poked my eyes out

Read some cheesy farewell posts by colleagues who resigned. I never had the courage to post anything like that. I just couldn't bring myself to sing praises after what I experienced in my ex-company. Read another post by a senior colleague. Apparently, the company has won something like a best place to work or best employer award. They must be kidding me. The management lies and disregards opinions of employees. Other departments are equally toxic. Lack of transparency and reluctance to promote talent are some of the many issues. I only use LinkedIn for my job hunt. I need to remind myself not to check my feed. Bleh.

How do adults who make barely the minimum wage in north america take their jobs so so seriously?

Like don't breath down my neck and shit on me because I punched in 20 seconds before putting my work jacket on? Literally doesn't change anything to the software behind the punch system or wth.

I have an opportunity to comfortably not work for a year..

I really want to take time to find myself and to focus entirely on me. Just want to find a place with my dog and just relax and recoup. Learn about myself as much as I can.. see where I end up. If you had 250k in the bank, your best pup friend, and no big responsibilities, what would you do?

They Live

What a wonderful classic by John Carpenter… What terrific themes 1. Climate change is intentional 2. Wealth is the Modus Operandi of some humans to enslave other humans 3. The world is unfair by design 4. We can change the status quo 5. Maybe something other than violent revolution though…

Small business trying to act like a coporation

At my work place there is only 4 of us. The boss,me and my partner and one other person who works admin. The admin got promoted to manager without us being informed and then recently made responsible for our clock ins(because the boss don't want to deal with it) which allowed a privy of personal information to their acess. I get that it's the norm for managers to have access but it made us uncomfortable that now everybody knows our personal details. I don't get how a company of four also has a hr company running hr needs for them needs a manager to manage two other staff. That is just literally too many chiefs.

When/why/how did job postings become so demanding?

I got my Bachelor’s in Data Science over a year ago, and got a 3.7 GPA. Despite these accomplishments, I’ve basically been locked out of my field. I’ve been working retail ($15/hr) for the past year. I was in college during the height of COVID, and it was impossible to get any real internships back then. Employers don’t care. They want experience that I was unable to get for entry-level positions. If I get a call back, they make me go through multiple rounds of intense interviews, and won’t even tell me the pay, which is probably less than what my parents made at the same age. I want to be able to support myself and pay rent in a modest apartment, but nowadays it seems the only people who are qualified for the jobs that’ll allow that are the “rockstar” students – the people who got perfect GPAs, multiple…

ex boss keeps trying to get into my gmail account

i used to work for a dysfunctional small business ran by a tyrannical Big Capitalism wannabe. i was the leader of a small (overworked) team my boss (the owner) ran the company like the military and disliked me, essentially because i was more knowledgeable than him in the area he hired me, and i didn’t have any interest in sucking up to him. of course he eventually fired me, and in a fit of self sabotaging rage, told me i didn’t need to prepare any handover documents or do any sort of knowledge sharing or forward any documents. he just wanted me out, and he wanted me to know that anything i’d created during my time there was useless in his eyes during my time at the company, amongst other things, i had written dozens of process guides, an actual business plan which he referred to often, a detailed department…

Correlation between low tier jobs and being “anti work”

I’ve lurked in this subreddit for awhile and generally agree with its overall message. With that being said, one thing that I’ve noticed, is that an overwhelming majority of people here that advocate for moving away from a workcentric existence have low paying low skill jobs. I’m curious, if you had a more meaningful career that paid more would you still be antiwork?
