So I were at a direct ship wearhouse that treats it's employees like shit. The pay is bad, they want superb work, and they want it done fast. The company is also under investigation for profiting off of Uyghur forced labor. Now if someone were to slip a card with a bunch of information about the company in to some of their products what would be the worst consequences that person could face ? I mean besides being fired.
Month: September 2023
I was hired by a union to be an inside organizer at a local factory. It should have been easy to get an entry level job at the factory, but they changed their criteria for new hires right after I applied and I was rejected for not having enough relevant experience, so the union dropped me. I'm so fucking tired. I had this incredible opportunity fall into my lap to not only have a decent paying job with health insurance, but I was going to be paid to do labor organizing work that I'm truly passionate about. I've been applying for other jobs for months, but no one will let me work without experience. I'm a linecook with a performing arts degree. I'm aging out of my parents health insurance in 6 months. I haven't felt this close to ending my life in years but literally what is the point…
Past job trauma
My former boss made me me feel badly about pretty much everything I ever did in that job. And I'm finding that I carried that poison to my current job where I'm treated with love kindness, respect. My current bosses know I'm doing my projects, but yet I feel guilty that I'm need focus time on this project ( that got backlogged due to the holiday weekend, and my partner in crime is on vacation this week. So it's just me on this project), and that I spent 2 days catching back up. How do I make that feeling go away?
If we’re working to pay the rent
Why hasn't anybody made a union for tenants?
It's like if you let a bully keep pushing you around he will keep doing it. people in other countries are calling working class Americans cowards.
Regardless of my performance, should I write it off as “I’m off the clock so I shouldn’t care”? Don’t take this as criticism or entitlement, but I’ve seen posts in this sub where members have called about their boss calling them in while they’re off the clock, often to discuss performance. There might also be a worker protection about this but don’t quote me on it
“it’s just a dog” pt.2
https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/16aux80/its_just_a_dog/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 So, for anyone interested, I went back into work today, only to be met by the store owner, who pulled me into the back and immediately said “I saw you made me internet famous, at this point I'm suspending you for a week without pay while I figure out what to do with you, as I don't know if I'm firing you yet” I tried to retort once or twice before I realized what I was doing, told him “if that's your decision” and left. I'm pretty sure this qualifies as retaliatory? he's done the same sort of thing years before when I was one of his managers. Do I have any rights here? Should I be talking to a lawyer? Please, if anyone knows where to start, please point me in the right direction.
Having those 2 weeks off, across the country with absolutely nothing to do and nowhere to be, in a nicer car than I have at home with much more beautiful scenery as well, made my day to day depression about work increase x100. While I was there everything was fine but now that Im back and had my first day back Im so incredibly down that I dont know how to bounce back. Can anyone please give me some advice on how to positively transition my thoughts back to a better state?
I was offered a job and I negotiated the terms of the base salary last Monday. I have sent an email on Friday and called this Tuesday for an update. Unfortunately, I have not heard back from the HR. Im this waiting period of not hearing back from them is driving me crazy. If they wanted to rescind the offer, shouldn’t they have already? Or is this their way of ghosting me? I interviewed with the company for six weeks so I’m just in shock if they are going to ignore me like this after negotiating. Please help and looking for advice and everyone else’s experience in situations like this. Thank you and I appreciate it.
I'll start…I was in a traineeship for 3 years and they constantly lied to me about my rights and used me as a cheap employee and I could do nothing about it lol. I know it's not the worst case scenario but I they kinda used me instead of training me lol
