At the morning meeting today my boss ended it with a speech about being competitive and fostering competition among employees. She said some shit about finding where your worth is – like are you someone who is content with getting my and doing your work or someone who wants more. Competition does not make life fun. It stole all of the joy from my life and made me suicidal in the past. Not dealing with that again. Meanwhile they have a culture of telling on each other for mistakes and employees never talking to each other outside of professional setting. I refuse to engage in it. When someone makes a mistake I message them directly and help them fix it. Most people do that with me but I can tell there are some that are the competitive type my boss wants that revel in reporting mistakes. I know this because…

Beginning to hate the job I love.
Let me start by stating I work automotive. A field where it's rare to find good employer's that take care of the employees. I work for an owner that I respect, (small town owner does ground level work). Recently, we hired another tire tech. This person is the bane of a good workplace. Argumentative, cuts corners, makes too many mistakes. Always claims their way of doing things is correct, and that I need to stop bothering them. I'm the lead tire tech. However, the bad part is, no one in management is taking the complaints on this person seriously. The person never torqued lug nuts several times, when confronted, they said their impact was enough. They are lucky a wheel hasn't fallen off, or a tire blown out due to the many mistakes. I'm thinking of quitting due to this, as the lead tech, mistakes rebound to me. Sorry if…
I have a disciplinary hearing tomorrow
Hey, just thought I would share this as I find it kinda funny. So recently I’ve been turning up late for work. Not anything significant, anything between 1-4 minutes late. But it’s a 9-5 so that doesn’t really matter, they want you in 5-10mins early never mind 1-4 minutes late Anyway, yesterday the ‘big boss’ sent an email letting us know that’s he’s aware some of us are making this a practice and that if it continues there will be consequences. You guessed it, I was late again today. I sit down and start working and 10 minutes later the person in charge of my department walks in, also late (I should note that they have also been late a few times and sometimes as long as 20 minutes late. Two hours or so later I get an emai telling me I have a disciplinary hearing tomorrow as my punctuality…
Really needed a day and still do tbh, and I finally got the courage to ask for a mental health day and he said 'it's right before her weekend anyways'. I felt too uncomfortable to insist so I just sat at my desk dead as ever. What's even the point. 'No worries! I'll just postpone my self-unaliving thoughts until the weekend!'
what do i need to do??
i currently work at a security job making (gasp) $14 an hour. i am raw dog tired at the end of the day from working a job in the hottest part of the day that barely covers my rent? i spend all day checking trailers and entering data and answering the phone. im a glorified secretary. what or who do i have to do to get one of those stupid cushy work from home jobs that i can walk leisurely on a treadmill, type in a couple numbers on a spreadsheet and make like 30 an hour like they do in the damn movies?? i’m so tired of being ran ragged and dealing with people, knowing my boss doesn’t give a damn that we aren’t paid anywhere near enough. we can’t discuss our pay (my father works at the same job and when i mentioned how much i made he…
Pay options.
Just started a new job. And you can’t get a paper check. Only options for pay are direct deposit (I don’t have a bank account) or a pre-paid Visa card that charges two dollars for EVERY transaction made on it. What a fucking rip off.
I’ve worked for small to large companies over the past years and the majority of people have such huge egos and feel so important while at the office. People that are “directors” or “VPs” – especially walk around like they are gods and think they are the most important person in the office. Sometimes I think the CEO and other execs really get off on people practically bowing to them. Do these people know that nobody gives a shit about them when they leave the office? The only people who really care about them are those in the office who are trying to kiss ass to climb the ladder or those who are so afraid of losing their jobs. I have no idea where I am going with this, but I seriously cannot stand watching people in the office inside of Corporate America!!
We can complain as much as we want, but chances are we will have to stay on the grind, so what are tips to making the most of the work system?
My boss thinks that 7.25 an hour is good
i work at a small factory in the midwest. they make around 6 million a year so it’s not insanely big but they’re definitely making ends meet. They’re starting wage is 11 an hour but with prior work experience i was hired in making more than this. a lot of employees complain because most of them are making around the 12-13 dollar mark. my boss was talking to me about how it’s hard to find good employees like me and i told her it was probably because nobody wants to hire in at 11 an hour. she told me that 11 an hour is good money and people need to be more grateful. i asked her if she truly believes people aren’t under paid and she said that “people just don’t work like they used to”. keep in mind that every person who works here struggles with money and all…
