I want to say, if this is the wrong place…I'm sorry in advance. I can't believe this has happened to me, but my boss was discussing her ex-husband with a co worker and myself. She had made mention previously about him having a stroke and not having much mobility(In a wheelchair now). Today after showing us a picture of her grandkids, I asked her how the fishing rod her son made worked out for her ex-husband. She said he loved it. Then proceeded to talk more about his condition. She said he struggles to talk, but swears a lot. The conversation seems just fine. Until she tells us what swear word he is always using. And I quote. Right in front of me. She casually says he says “Fuckin' N” all the time. I couldn't believe my ears. I have not mentioned my race, but I am Black. I was…

I’m a recent college graduate, currently working at my local hospital while I search for a long-term career. But isn’t really important. Most of us janitors currently make 12 dollars an hour, and we are frequently understaffed. Not that the work is grueling to make up for lost productivity; it’s actually not too difficult or strenuous. But the average rate for hospital janitors in our area is $15 per hour, which is why turnover is so high. I’m planning to get several other janitors to declare a strike until we get $15 per hour. But I don’t know how it should actually be handled. Do we talk to our supervisors about it, or someone in a higher position? Should we give them a few days ultimatum before striking? Stuff like that. I’d appreciate any advice, since I’ve never tried anything like this before.
She has sent me 4 messages about this shit. For background. I have a masters from a top school and a year of experience at a top boutique consulting firm where I made almost 4x this joke….
I hate working on my birthday
That is all.
Leadership is so deluded
Sorry for any formatting issues. I'm on mobile. The leadership and executives at my company are having trouble understanding why so many employees leaving when: -They laid off 20% of our staff with no warning in Spring. -Cost of Living adjustments were put off until the layoff happened and leadership confirmed that COL adjustments weren't happening due to “budget” issues. -No incentives were given to the remaining staff whos workloads doubled or tripled from the layoff. -They want to phase out WFH. More stuff is happening but those are the main issues.
I work for a smallish company in a northeastern mid size city, but I got an offer to work somewhere else with better hours and way better pay. I don’t think this was surprising to anyone because it was fairly obvious that I’ve been unhappy with my current position for a while now. I told my boss that I accepted a new position and gave them three weeks notice. A few days later, I got an email from HR asking me for the password to my company email account. I still have two weeks left on the job and I’m uncomfortable with the idea of them going through my email while I’m still working there. I know that what they’re doing isn’t illegal and that a company has the right to go through your email at any time during or after employment, but I still think it’s weird. And perhaps…
I got let go for wanting job security.
I've been a temp/contract employee at a company that makes medical devices for four years and working full time hours. I do more work the most of the actual full time employees, always on time, and my attendance is excellent. I finally speak up for myself wanting to get directly hired on so I can get benefits, sick days, and vacation days. Now my contract is not getting renewed. My last way will be the 19th this month. Thanks guys! Temp abuse in North America needs to end. This is insane.

Got an email from an HR lady at this lawfirm. She said based on my profile and resume she thinks I would be a good fit and asks me to formally apply. Apply and send my resume. My profile is basically just my resume. And not too long after get an email I'm rejected. …..why message me in the first place if you were going to deny it so quickly? Felt like a waste of time.
I have a decade of experience as a fine dining bartender and server. A nursing home posted an ad for fine dining servers. The job entails waiting tables at a public restaurant within a memory care facility. It pays 18 an hour and does not allow tips. The industry typically pays 40-50 an hour including tips in my area. However, the nursing home offers benefits and is in a very convenient location. There is also room to move up in the company. At the interview the manager explained how desperate they’ve been to find qualified employees and were excited to get my resume. He told me how exhausted he is because he is working 50 hours a week because he has no support. I explained that I can work all holidays (they are open 365 days a year). The trade off was my wife and I have a 3 week…
