If only her employer can handle the funeral costs, but times are tough for big corporations.

My job is telling me I cannot request days off

I’m available 21-24hrs per week, my job has been scheduling me 19 hours/week which means I’m one hour short for qualifying for any benefits including vacation/sick days. I’ve been requesting some days that I’ll need off for doctors appointments for my baby, holidays and my birthday. I noticed that all my request got denied, I asked HR and they told me that since I don’t average a minimum of 20 hours per week I cannot request days off because it would be an unexcused absence (due to me not having PTO at all). I might just be dumb but that doesn’t sound right, specially since they’re scheduling me this way on purpose.

Seeking Advice: Federal Job Application Requires Current Supervisor’s Info and Salary Disclosure – Need Guidance!

I have recently been exploring job opportunities following layoffs, and I came across a federal position on USA Jobs that required the following information on the resume: Official Position Title (including series and grade for Federal jobs) Duties (provide specific descriptions) Employer's name and address Supervisor's name and phone number Start and end dates (month and year format, e.g., June 2007 to April 2008) Full-time or part-time status (include hours worked per week) Salary While I understand this is a federal job application, I'm concerned about providing my supervisor's name and phone number, as well as disclosing my current salary. It seems conflicting and could jeopardize my current job before finding a new one. Most likely will nof apply as I don't find these to be appropriate on a resume.

im genz hr – i really want equality and the best for employees. will i ever find a company who supports this?

i went to college for hr and work in it entry-level now. i really enjoy the job duties and different roles ive had so far. i see myself wanting to stay in hr or hr adjacent roles and work up to business leadership. BUT “hr is never on your side” im learning this is true, and i am STRUGGLING. i have issues i wish i could bring up to hr, but that would mean my direct boss – so i keep quiet. i want so badly to work for a company that actually cares about equality, work life balance, good! fair!! pay, and the overall good of their employees. problem is, all companies advertise like that externally, only once you get exposure to the “inner circle” do you see how terribly unfair the inequality really is. specifically around pay. seeing internally how low people are paid, how high the top…

Just quit my job, a role which was purpose designed to identify gaps in staff retention.

Corporate offered me an exit interview to discuss gaps in retention. Fucking morons.

Advertising English exchange to Japan, actually pay for the privilege of being in the Philippines

A bit of bait and switch on LinkedIn. Last I heard, Philippines and Japan aren't the same place – and having to fund your own trip as well as pay them for the privilege seems a bit off

Am I wrong for feeling salty?

I hate that we have to work to survive even when we're feeling like shit.
