Just wanted an expert opinion here. My wife is trying to get out of a job that grossly misrepresented what it was. But apparently they had made her sign a thing saying she has to give a 30 day notice or she’d owe them a fee of $1500. That feels… illegal? I know she signed a thing, but signing a thing doesn’t make the illegal legal. Is this kind of thing legit, and if not, does anybody have some advice on how to negotiate out of it? Thanks!
Month: September 2023
I need to take two days off but I won’t be doing in community work etc. I need to travel. What do I say? How can I get two consecutive days.
Basically the title… I have ADHD, so punctuality is already a weak spot for me but I’ve gotten a lot better at it, however I’ve noticed with with my jobs in the past and my current one, I just can’t get myself to leave for work because I’m dreading going to it in the first place…so naturally I’m late..and naturally my boss and coworkers who are so passionate about their minimum wage jobs are annoyed… It’s funny though because overall I’m a good worker (going off many customers remarks regarding my work and my disposition) yet me being late by even a minute practically erases all and any good things about my work… I’ve also noticed as I start to burn out I can’t keep up my performance, on top of the fact that your performance is never good enough as there’s always something that you can do better (I’m…
U.S.A. WTF?
After a national or global disaster/emergency, typically huge policy initiatives are landed that help the lives of a nation's people. For example, after WW2, many nations began having affordable/taxpayer-funded healthcare. After COVID, the U.K. changed its student loan regulations to help students/college-educated people with their loans. Canada stopped interest on their student loans help of the government. Interest started accumulating for student loans in the U.S. today. No debt relief for most. We did get the SAVE plan that helps with payments but only covers the interest when subsidized. We don't change to help the people anymore. We didn't even add mandatory paid sick leave or paid family leave following COVID. Just insanity.
I am so mad right now. So trying to type this all out legibly. I work at a very small division of a big corporate media company. The department I work in is small. I have worked there since December 2021 along with my partner who has been with this company since 2018. Both of us made minimum wage. (7.25 in my state) Summer 2022, my partner meets with the boss to request a pay increase. They give us a 0.43 cent raise. Cut to a few weeks ago. We have a new member of our department and she lets slip that she is making $10 an hour. 30% more than me, if my math is correct. This girl has zero experience in this department and has been trained by me. Come to find out that two former members of our department, all hired on after myself and my partner,…
For context I'm the warehouse supervisor for a 3rd party service center working inside a major food manufacturers factory. I've just handed my notice with request to leave in 3 weeks but been told 4 weeks due to contract. I'm 2 weeks into this notice period not once have I been asked to show others in the management team how to do my job. New management team arrived weeks ago due to all bosses jumping ship for compotators, so nobody really knows how this place operates! we have a client review due this month and the area I am responsible for is key focus for keeping the contract, due to my employer underestimating the effort it will take to replace me and leaving it last minute I'm just deciding to chill out watching Netflix until I can go home. if i work the full 4 weeks it will be a…
If so, what was your experience like? Are they a good union to be a part of?
I got a 15¢ raise
And I'm not one to nickel & dime, but seriously? A nickel and a dime?
So, I am set to start a new part time job today. The manager told me to show up 8AM to start my onboarding process, and I have been here since 7:45, just waiting outside the store. I plan on waiting until 8:30 and if I don't see another worker or human by then, I'll be leaving my resignation in their mailslot. I'll let you know how it goes. Edit: Welp. Back to the search
