40 more years of monitored bathroom breaks. 40 more years of management being unable to give me direct answers about what it is my job reaponsibilities are, yet still screaming at me for not doing what's “expected” of me. 40 more years of being underpaid, overworked, and emotionally drained. I am 21 years old. I can't afford college and the highest education I have is high school. Been trying find work but nowhere in my area wants to hure me because I don't have experience or a college degree. I turned in an application with a trucking company and got turned down all because in the six years I have been driving I have ONE speeding ticket. One. So now I don't know what to do and need advice.

I got hurt at work. The restrictions were no driving and sit down only. My company informed me that since I do not drive for work, that it will be my responsibility to make it in regardless. That’s was fucked up in my opinion, I got hurt at work and now I can’t drive but I still have to get to work or I’ll be fired. The bright side is that I can only do seated work and I plan on being so compliant with that. I will just sit at my desk. I plan on doing absolutely no work if I can’t do it seated, I am not even going to grab shit off the printer. I guess I kind of a wanted to vent lol, I’ll update you after my first day back. I am also really excited for the prospect to see how difficult I can be…

Now I don't have an issue with a 35-40 hour work week. I struggle with a 9am start. I've had insomnia since I was a child and I feel very energised sometimes around 11pm-1am and struggle with an 8am wake-up time. It means I am consistently sleep deprived and 90% of the days at work I'm doing the bare minimum to survive the day. If I were to take a week off work and have no alarm clocks on, I naturally seem to fall into a pattern of waking up at 10-11am and sleeping at 2am. This was the case with any annual leave, this was the case during the lockdown times and also the case with any summer holidays during school years. It seems pretty ingrained in me. So I've been thinking about a potential career change in the future and I wanted rough ideas of what sorta jobs…

Pretty much the title, recruitment process involved multiple interviews and test and was for a position with a extensive training. I didn’t get through the last stage and all I got was a generic email from an automated address! And that what bothers me the most, that in the end I’m just a number for the recruiter and once they don’t need me they don’t give a fuck. My question is should I respond to the email, cc the recruiter I was dealing with through the process and just politely let them know that generic email was not right?

I live in California, graduated with a B.S in molecular biology from Stanford, and have been applying to jobs. I applied for a position at Kaiser, but was given a lower position than the one I applied for because they still wanted me on the team. This position pays $20 an hour… for context, it costs $20 to park in their work parking structure everyday. I have student loans to pay off, rent in the bay area is impossible, not to mention other living costs. I no longer want to work there but am so far into the hiring process, and was considering just waiting it out and working there until I found a better position. However, with me having to go out of my way for a drug screening , their insistence on contacting every single one of my past employers, and the fucking $20 an hour they approved…

Biden made a railroad strike illegal Unions have been co-opted by the corporations they supposedly oppose, and get bogged down by the rules that we didnt even agree too, and by the way, the corporations dont follow the rules. since corporations have been making record profits off of basic food and sustenance necessities that are proving to be more and more expensive for everyone else (and blamed on “inflation”) the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program should be expanded to assist more “middle class” Americans with accessing those items. most of the American workforce right now cannot afford to eat a healthy and sustainable diet because of budget constraints. i am not talking about median household income statistics or anything that someone will come along and try to derail with, i am talking about affordability of food for the average American worker, which as of right now is unsustainable with the rise of other basic living costs. if something isn't done to help make life at least more bearable for the ones who are being looked over right now because they're just a step above being homeless this country will start…

So I have worked in Higher Ed for 5+ years now in support staff roles. So “production” and “managerial” structuring is not like standard companies or retail or fast food… you end up a lot with overqualified people in support staff roles and faculty (who started their careers with subject specific goals and knowledge) in leadership roles and steering the ship. I have a Masters degree in a subject area but decided early I didnt want to be faculty. I enjoy helping people and am very good at high levels of administrative and clerical duties so thats the route Ive been on. 3 positions in across 2 different “companies” I feel burned and actively traumatized. These companies like to call themselves “a family” and that leadership has open doors… its a farce. Position 1 – I was emotionally abused and treated like a lowly personal assistant by one faculty member…

I feel so down cause I thought this front desk job at my college was going to help me gain experience. It was not fun for me because I had to work alongside the manager which made it so stressful because she saw everything I did and I was held at a very high expectation. I really did try to do my job but I had other responsibilities with school I was expected to put in so much effort and memorize every rule and procedure. I had to do a lot of things that didn’t allow me to develop my customer service skills and other skills required for the job which ended up hurting me. I only worked 10 hr weeks and some of them were slow days which didn’t allow me to show that I was doing good. They said I didn’t meet their expected evaluations after doing bad…
