My new job starts tomorrow 9/5, and I have a second interview on Wednesday 9/6

So, I lost my job on August 1st, the same month I had put in for a vacation week, go fucking figure. The place was trash and had basically hired me to two jobs for the price of one, but it was paying $26/hour so it was mostly worth my time. At any rate, I had been called about possible job for $22/hour the day before I lost it, and called up the recruiter immediately, knowing it was a job I had done before with a company I had worked for before, which basically made me a shoe-in. Now, this company is far worse than the previous one, they literally lowered my pay back in 2021 as a “reward” for getting hired on full time and I fully believe they will do the same thing if I get to the point of being hired on full time this time around.…

Hotel owners “amazing” offer

I currently work in maintenance at a hotel. I was 1 of 2 maintenance men and the other guy wasn't dependable or reliable. Every job that came up came to me because you couldn't trust him to do it either at all or in a timely manner. This previous weekend the owners showed up and fired him and one of the deskies. Promoted me to head of maintenance/assistant manager after praising me for being an incredible employee and very smart. The kicker. I make $16.50 an hour and work 32 hours a week. Relatively low wage but I like the job and am fine with that. Their idea of a promotion is that I am now salaried at the same rate of $16.50 an hour. Am I being taken advantage of, and should I seek higher compensation?

Hello, everyone! I could really use some guidance on this situation. To provide context, I work for a corporate restaurant chain with multiple locations. Earlier this year, a coworker who was a manager resigned. With one of our main locations undergoing renovations and business slowing down, I took on her responsibilities in addition to my regular tasks. (It's worth noting that she was earning nearly $20k more than me.) I discussed a raise and a title change with my boss, expressing my willingness to assume her responsibilities and my need for fair compensation. Initially, he rejected my request, citing the company's financial challenges due to employee turnover. Toxic workplace environment. Need advice.

Toxic Salon Environment So I’m an esthetician that works for a franchise. My specific locations franchise owner is very…fussy and cliquey. But the problem isn’t the services. It’s the way that our owner is forcing us to do work of esthetician and receptionist at the same time, and often times we’ll be left alone trying to run the whole place by ourselves. This has been happening to me a lot lately. A lot of this extra work is outside of our job description and wasn’t talked about when I was hired on (other coworkers didn’t get this information as well). We also make less than minimum wage and due to the way that we have nobody to answer the phone and how the managers want us to run things, most of the locations my franchise owner has lack clients.
