I work as a cook in a place for old people in france. Since 2 year, people who have left haven't been replace so we are almost understaf. I have tried to tell them that they need to hire some people. During holiday or when people are missing we are running like hell to do a shity job. My chef told me that they do not find any people but I know that they don't really look for it. They pay the minimum wage and a raise is out of question. After 3 year of trying, my girlfriend is pregnant. In france having a baby gives you 1 month off which will put them in a impossible situation. I haven't told them yet but it always put a smile on my face when I think about how I will tell them. Ps : sorry for my bad English

I hate this policy in my office. Its ok for women to wear a skirt or a dress, but men aren't allowed to wear shorts. Even in this hot weather we're having. We aren't even client facing and these days you can definitely buy shorts that look smart casual enough to wear to the office. The skirts I see ladies wearing to the office don't scream 'professional ' to me (in a traditional/conservative sense), so whats the issue with us guys getting our legs out? Is it that the male dominated management want to see some 'leg' in the office? Is there any wonder people don't want to return to the office and want to continue WFH.
1) believe that it is possible to change the world, and that resources exist for humanity to coexist peacefully 2) convince others that it is possible 3) Remove generational wealth and corporate influence from leadership, and create a society that is net-positive, not net-negative.
Why do managers think this is ok???
I went to a restaurant this morning (I just got carry-out). But of course, because it's Labor Day, the restaurant was crazy. Note that I was being pretty patient with waiting for my food because I knew they were really busy. I asked this guy about whether my food was ready, and he was like “I'll be real, but it's my first day and first hour, so I'm just taking it in.” I can't imagine the manager didn't know it'd be really busy on actual Labor Day (this isn't a new restaurant). But why in the world's would you start someone on actual Labor Day when you clearly know it'll be insane?
Boss took away tips for labor Day
Yeah, he called in to say that if anyone doesn't have the money for full service air, (which is a $2.00 min. But sometimes you get bigger tips and it all counts!) that we should tell them have a happy Labor Day from (name of company!) So he gets to be awesome* while taking our little bit of tips away from us for Labor Day. We're the only such company open today in our city.. And this is how we supplement our crappy pay.
I’m posting to this community since it seems to be the best for advice, with people who are actually sane & not completely brainwashed by capitalist bullshit. So I finally got hired for my first job after a whole year of being unemployed which is great! (During that time I had applied to so so so many jobs that in hindsight probably ignored my application, I live in a rural area where finding a job is like finding a needle in a haystack) My parents were on my ass about it the whole time and kept threatening to kick me out. The job is working with people who have intellectual disabilities/ Developmental disabilities. On the job listing there was nothing like having to do gross things like changing diapers, or wiping people asses. I made it through the last interview, and the interviewer asked “are you okay with changing diapers…
I was in a contract position and year after year my contract get renewed. However each year there’s about 5 month of gap time that I couldn’t work as the work is not required. I am a star employee and eveyone likes me and I work overtime. I’m also involved in extras curriculum stuff for the team and my manager had been giving me lots of opportunity to shine during my time there but I wanted to be permanent and not have that gap in my employment. She promoted one person to permanent and I find she is often unfair on how she extend people’s contract. She thought I have money and no pressure for financials so she never extended me. This angered me and this summer I finally left this job after 5 years and started another position in the company. My manager tried to retain me and asked…
Time off never meets expectations
Anyone else? Am I the only one that looks forward to vacations and holidays weeks in advance to get away from my job. But the time comes and it flys by and ends up being a giant disappointment. Seems to happen more often then not for me. Gotta go back tomorrow and I am dreading it.
Being thoughtful when consuming
I was walking around Walmart and it hit me, especially in the United States, no one is thoughtful when buying shit. Maybe since inflation but for the most part people just buy shit they don't need. Even when buying the needs such as food, spending money on rent, etc. People overspend. ————————– What are some things you buy that make you think twice (do I actually need it)? What are some things that people buy that make you think WTF?
