Boss denied expense report after approving all others

My boss denied my expense report because it was just a “day trip not overnight”. And the company doesn't pay for food on a day trip. However, I have gone on many days trips and they have expensed my food. I'm sure it's because we probably went over budget on this project (not my fault again). I feel like I should let it go because I'm quitting this job in 7 months to go on an adventure but at the same time they're contradicting themselves. The trip was 8 hours within itself so do they expect me to just go 8 hours without any food?!

Bartender work suspension advice

Hey everyone, I just got suspended from work and unsure if I should move on. To explain, I was working with a coworker and they helped out a customer that essentially did not have payment ,because we only take cash or card. Which caused me to worry cause she secured never took a payment. I believe I told her to notify the manager but it seems she never did. Or if she did the matter was not resolve. 10 minutes went by and he was just chilling and drinking ,so I was wondering if he was ever going to try and pay. Being me I wanted to make sure the drink was paid for ,because of trouble I’ve gotten into before. So, I was urgently discussing with her how he was going to pay. Then the idea of me using my cash tips in exchange of him to Zelle me…

Oh, wage theft in Bama pt. 2

So, a fair member of our community who is employed at a Burgerfry chain restaurant, Jack's, we'll call it. There is a new one opening up next to where I live. I thought biscuits and gravy would be nice this morning so I checked to see if they were open yet and came across a Google review from a, Josh Sexmachine. Yes. Really. He states. The employees at the new Jack's location on Lucas Ferry Rd are being made to work without clocking in with the promise the hours will be entered into the computer after the fact. I worked a certain number of hours, then was told I would only be paid for a portion of them. They are swindling their new employees into cleaning up the place before opening with no promise they will be paid for their hours worked. BEWARE TO NEW EMPLOYEES! You may not get paid…

Anyone feel like they are wasting their time away?

I'm already 26. I realized I kept working and I haven't even gone to a beach yet. I haven't taken a trip anywhere else except restaurants or cafes. I always work and I don't have the money to spend on vacation. I live paycheck to paycheck because of my debts. I always stay at home. Like if I were to continue like this I would be 30 and I haven't taken a vacation at all. I realized I was getting closer to 30 today and my life didn't have anything exciting to look back on. Not like 30 is old but like realizing my 20s were spent on nothing much is sad. I wish I could travel more and do something fun but I realized even with working, it's not like I can do those things. Travelling is very expensive nowadays and I feel like it's a luxury now. Even…

Serfing Your Life Away

Q: What’s the difference between a 1400s serf who can’t go anywhere because there’s no cash economy — and a 2000s millennial who can’t go anywhere because they spend all their money just surviving in place. A: The serf knows he or she is a serf.

Applied for night cleaner, got the job as a shift manager.

A few months ago, I had applied to a movie theater to be the midnight cleaner. I would be able to take my time, be alone, not have to deal with people. The day after my interview, the GM who interviewed me had offered me a shift manager position with a higher pay. I took the position but realized shortly after that I'm not cut for the position. On my first day, the GM that interviewed me had quit due to not getting paid enough (she was getting paid less than $40k per year and her boss could offer her an extra $80 per year). That first month was being trained poorly by 3 shift managers who were already on their way out the door and don't work here anymore. By the time they left, we only had myself, the district manager, and what ever help we could get from…

I debated about posting this here – a blog post dealing with work, anti-work and significant work

Long story short, I've been very lucky in my life that I've worked some jobs that I was very good at and have made a decent living at (Banking and insurance sales). However there comes a time when you start to realize that most of what the insurance companies are selling people is bullshit, designed to help their bottom line than the people you are selling the product too. You start to think about the nature of work and the environment as a whole. So recently I left, at the age of 57, to find work that I want to do. This is dealing with that journey. My blog is designed to be free of advertising and is non profit in general. It's fun for me to do. So anyhow…here it is: https://citymouseintheboondocks.blogspot.com/2023/09/some-thoughts-about-work-anti-work-and.html
