This may be the wrong place for this, but everyone is very knowledgeable so I figured I’d ask. Long story short: Been on a special medication for a few months, dosage change error on the doctors part has given me bad adverse side effects, mostly vomiting multiple times a day and being unable to eat full meals. This is all being taken care of with my primary doctor and we’re hoping this stops soon, but nonetheless I have not been able to work due to the constant sickness for 2.5 weeks (I’ve lost some weight due to this as well). My workplace is keenly aware of the situation, I work in state government so I have a small team to report to rather than a large group. I have a doctors note, my supervisor has been kept informed throughout this, and I’ve been working with my doctor to actively work…
Month: September 2023
I (35F) am now on a medical leave from work for the next month. I could no longer cope with all the stress. I moved a couple of months ago, then 2 weeks later my bf broke things off with me. Then work went to hell and I'm pretty sure my boss is a narcissist who is scapegoating me. So all the stress has been piling up and I fucking lost it. I'll focus on the work stress for obvious reasons. About 2 years ago, I promoted to team lead. I work at a help desk for one of the state departments in government. We assist county/tribal government workers in two of the processing systems they use for public assistance benefits. We help them troubleshoot and fix problems, patch status problems, remove pending applications, etc. Generally make their lives easier so they are incredibly grateful to us. About 2 weeks…
I have been doing sales which is based on 100% commission or we draw, Today my senior manager said i will not get an opportunity for a tour because they were powering out the first 8 on rotation there was only 11 tours and the sites VPG(value per guest ) was down and from a business standpoint they needed to make sales ( i was number 9) this was not communicated to me until the end. i went home and now i found out that number 10 and 11 on the rotation got a tour and they made everyone sign that they are not powering out. i am beyond confused ( my buddy 10th on rotation called me to find out why i left early he thought it was a family matter until he told me he got a tour and a deal) . i am beyond pissed and feel…
Is your boss your daddy? Your mommy? Your guardian? Are you 9? Then why do they get to dictate where you can/can’t go, and when? Be a fucking adult and stick up for yourself and handle your business. Maybe if you had a spine you wouldn’t be crying about work in the first place. The type of people who wouldn’t simply leave work to go see their loved one during an emergency or a death are the exact type of docile, sheeplike, simple folk who frequent r/antiwork The only job that you’d get fired from for doing this are entry-level positions, which are a fucking dime a dozen. And, if you are higher up and you don’t have a leader who can accommodate this type of occurrence, then you don’t want that job anyway. Could things be better for us all? Yes. Is bitching and moaning on Reddit gonna make…
From peak pandemic times to the beginning of this year, I worked an administrative role at a large-ish company and part of my job was to supply the office with snacks. Some of the owners had bougie taste, so I stocked it regularly with $6 drinks, $9 bags of chips, and coming out of the peak pandemic era, it wasn’t uncommon for me to be spending $500+ at the most expensive grocery store around. The office regulars loved it, they loved my taste in the goods, so I couldn’t complain. There’s a membership program at this particular grocery store and multiple times I suggested we sign up for it as it would’ve saved us about 20% on our grocery bill. I never got a response back. Things were a bit chaotic, granted: my boss & her boss & her boss’s boss ended up finding new jobs or being let go…

Retroactive Wage Reduction (Boise, ID)
My friend who picked up a short-term job at a famous donut chain in Idaho wants to quit his job immediately, he only worked there for two weeks n change. They agreed to $13/hr and he was fine with that, worked some 70 some odd hours there and then let the employer know he wasn't gonna be sticking around (he has a different job at a warehouse that was not operating for those two week so he got this donut job just for the interim; he DID let the employer know of this arrangement and they AGREED on him being there for a short time, he said anywhere from 2 weeks to two months). Today, he messages the owners that saying he's done and will collect his two weeks pay and call it there because the warehouse is operating again. Come to find out, the owners said that in the…
