Recruiter with Company I interviewed with (5 times and still got rejected) asking me to apply to the same position

When I was on the job market a few years ago, I went through hell and back interviewing at 60 different places and getting through to the second to last round of interviews before ultimately being rejected. The worst offender was the company who had me in for 5 virtual interviews(number 5 being over an hour long with 3 different “panels”), a written assessment, and still rejected me. They did manage to tell me why I was rejected: They said i “didn’t make enough eye contact” in the 5 rounds of interviews I had with them, but I know it is because I was asking to be fully remote instead of hybrid and for a higher salary since I have previous experience. I was recently laid off from the employer I managed to find for myself after all that effort. It was not for performance reasons, and i’m honestly so…

Company got bought out, gave a long speech about how everyone job is safe, weeks later, several fired.

Been with the company for 17 years. Company got bought out and slowly fired people for the dumbest reasons. One co-worker came in 10 minutes late, instant let go. One ate lunch while listening to a long Zoom call. Eventually, they fired me because they figured why have a manager when there’s a CEO involved. I run all the accounts, important financial numbers, etc. The CEO, President, Vice President, Owner talked to corporate about how they need me and was essential to keep things going, none of them knew how to do it. That did not matter, corporate fired me and put the reason as failure to follow directions. Corporate wiped my PC clean that day while I was still on the clock, no backup. I was cool with the IT guy, told him I had some important personal files on that PC, he let me in for 10 minutes…

Laid off, so I told my boss off

I work worked at a doggy daycare in an upscale town in Washington State. This business, due to extremely poor management and business practices by the owner, has been treading water since I started back in January. There are two locations and they've had to shut one down temporarily in the past, and now another down to the moronic human resource lady hiring warm bodies with pulses who also happen to be minors. Turns out, no one realized that 40%!! of the staff was going back to school in the fall. On top of that, the incredibly high turnover rate means the owner has to shut down a location again AND two shift leads quit in the past week (not including me. I bring it up to 3 in less than 4 days). Myself and another person got called into the office today. He had been there for over a…

Mass layoffs one month in…

I just joined my new position with a 'guaranteed 35 hours per week' policy in my original contract. One month in, my company put out a mass staff meeting, stating that they're starting a new program that is “voluntary”, but if you don't sign within 48 hours, they will choose an option for you. The options being: electing a reduction in hours (which might change down to part time) taking 'split shifts' either at the base store or any other store within a 30 mile radius “voluntarily” resigning with a $800 severance amount (across the board regardless of employment length). They stated in the document that they would give us a 'separation date' in the next two weeks, but didn't specify how far out that end date would be either (and didn't specify any date at all other than the 48 hour timeline). That being said, this seems to break…

Shamed for calling off

I work for a grocery store chain and it’s honestly one of the fewer jobs that make you feel forced to work and totally shamed if you call out for a legitimate reason, I’ve been up all night sick as hell and work 9 to 6 today. It would be nice to not be terrified to loose a job because you’re sick.

Best bachelors degree to have to work for the government (US)?

I know that there are some considered to be more of the “specialized” jobs have more of a “specific” education requirement. But what would you consider to be the best major to study if your goal is to get a more standard/basic level career? I was thinking criminal justice? Maybe business…? Would like to go a route that’s more online vs in person too. Some background info- I graduated with my Associate in Arts degree before being accepted/graduated to an Occupational Therapy (OT) assistant program. So in total I went to college for 5+ years and have two associate degrees. This has always bothered me for personal reasons, and my husband and I have always said that once our kids are a bit older/both out of daycare, that I should go part time at work and go back to school so that I can finally graduate with a bachelors. I…

What do consider more important, distance or time?

For example, would you rather travel 30 miles to work, no traffic takes 20 minutes. Or live 5 miles away from work, takes an hour to get home?
