I have noticed since a few months here in France that many mails that I receive have an extra signature line, stating if you received this email outside your working hours or during your holidays no immediate action is required from you…

I am curious to know if this is typical for France or is it common to other countries too. I've worked throughout of august here and all most everyone is just okay with the fact that the person they were looking for will not be in until the first week of september. I have worked in many countries for big and small companies but the french take the “I am not available, find another solution” to the highest level. Of course the rat race will pick up very soon, but this “my absence will not kill you or my company” is refreshing at least. When you say: il/elle est en congé (he/she is on holidays), you just hear a soft “oh I understand , what are the options now..” My boss left for her holidays and the last reuinion was just to make sur we would not in any circumstances…

I told my boss about my disability and they told me to quit or get fired

Hello reddit, it has been a few months since my boss stabbed me in the back and although things have settled down, I am still recovering from what happened. The characters of this story are my boss or sm (store manager), my supervisor Sam (sales assistant manager), and Laura supervisor. Also, some may recognize this story from an early vague post I made while things were going down. To begin in February I was diagnosed with PTSD and reoccurring depression, this was no suprise to me. I have had panic attacks and crippling anxiety for years and get bad depression every month ( yah hormones suck). February was also the 6-month review for my retail job, and as most could guess my anxiety and nerves came up a lot. Job stress was not only destroying my mental health but my physical health as well. I was getting migraines so strong…

slowly falling further and further behind and I feel like it’s my fault

I’ve been working at the same restaurant for almost 7 years now. It’s all season dependent so I can’t really even tell you how much I make. it’s a great serving gig and I love it, but It’s not consistent and I just graduated college this past april (communication design degree, yes I know). I also drive 40 miles one way for work so I always pray I have a good day that’ll make it worth the 80 miles round trip, and also coming home to my wife and kid asleep (less time spent with them) I understand that in that degree it might take a bit more time, it just happens. nothing is overnight. I have a regular resume, design resume, and online portfolio. But it’s almost month 5 of constantly applying to jobs within my degree, even have gone slightly out. office, hybrid, remote, even areas my fiancé…

Browsing open public sector jobs, wow pay is crap.

Part-time paramedic 18$ an hour. Other first responder positions (except police) starting at 30-ish k per year.. dog catcher advertised about 35k. Code compliance officer 18$ an hour. Police officers anywhere from 50-90k. This isn’t a low COL area. 10 yrs ago the average 2bdr house built in 60s was taxed at about 80k. Same houses are now taxed on 200k plus. Checked neighboring city’s job postings. Even the “rich asses” neighborhood with million dollar homes, Their pay is the same. There’s Cashiers at local Walmart making more than that. Makes me less bitchy about 30$ an hr working on cars.

I can’t even get an interview

I have over 20 years experience in my field, but no formal education and apparently everyone requires a bachelor degree now. I have been looking for a job for months, I have sent out so many resumes and I never hear anything back, no interview requests, not even a fucking rejection letter. This process is so demoralizing.

I’m sick and everyone around me insists I should be working

I don’t understand this mindset at all. I got sick last weekend (thanks to my manager) and since then I’ve been coughing non stop, serious shortness of breath and a wheeze in my lungs. I struggle to walk up the stairs without needing to stop at the top and breathe/wheeze. Covid test was negative. I think I shouldn’t be going into work like this but everyone in my life insists I should be going in today because if I don’t I’m losing out on money. My health should come first though, no? I don’t understand why my family, including my partner, insist I should suck it up and go in anyway. I work in a restaurant. It’s stressful and tiring and I currently can’t imagine working tonight when I need an inhaler after going up a few steps or walking too fast. Am I the fucking weird one?

Had a nervous breakdown and quit on the spot now all my coworkers are scared of me when I walk past my old company. But I have lived in this neighborhood for years. And was wrong to tell my CFO off?

28F I live down the street from my job. I work in accounting. It's a very small company. I'm not perfect. I could be late sometimes. ( I have ADHD and it causes very poor sleep) I was 7 to 15 minutes late everyday. And I live down the street so that wasn't great. And I took an hour lunch and two tens. But I started to get there around 7-8 an hour or two before bc I know it looked bad. I have a coworker who I hung out with. She used so much information I gave her to get many of our coworkers in trouble. I didn't realize it because I was just telling her my work day and everything that happened that I told everyone else. I became friends with a tenant she wanted to move out because of rats. The property, sales, and maintenance manager no one…

Can someone assist me please?

Long story short, I left my job after 6 years in a field where I've spent the last 20+ years. I left my job for a variety of reasons but the main reason was disengagement. I tend to keep a blog and am looking for a video that explains the “anti work” movement in a clear and conscientious manner. For a few reasons, I want to avoid politics. Sadly what I'm finding is either to right wing or to left wing. Can anyone point me in a direction of a good video that falls somewhere in the middle? I'm looking for for facts than political screeds. Thanks
