Strangers. Josip here. I read a couple of titles in the sub and I'm not in that big of a deal situation but still I'd like to hear opinions. I work a dairy farm, Ireland. Only employee to a family farm working with mostly just my boss. I don't care for relations, I do try not to be an asshole, but I'm here to work and I do it good. But seems that I'm expected to suck dick and to demise of my work quality which I simply can not do. Period. I'm my own and I work for money, not someone so I can't get over that. Hence my boss doesn't like me and does what he can to let me know, making up shit to do when there isn't any – he said at the interview when it's summertime my hours will even out with the season before…

33k To Be A software engineer
Just got off the phone with a company to clarify a job posting. At first it does say internship, but entry level is also posted as a listing too. They told me they were hiring for both, but the salary was 33k-45k for the full-timers, while interns would earn half since they are part time. In my experience, when a range is posted, they ALWAYS pay the lowest. I’m so done and wish I never went into this field. The only decent paying positions are in big cities, but everything else there is more expensive, so the better pay isn’t even worth it.
long story short, my boyfriend hasn't worked in over a year now (he's disabled and it's really hard for him to find work he can actually do) making $15/hour starting part time (minimum wage where we are is $13/hour.) his parents were helping with the bills and stuff while he wasn't working and i was working part time at goodwill (because i'm also disabled) so we had money for food and to take care of our cats and stuff. (sidenote but fuck goodwill specifically. they're shitty in general, but working there was horrible. But that's it's own thing.) i got burnt out and hurt my knee from working so i ended up quitting. anyways, so my boyfriends parents kinda just threw all his bills back at him the moment he started working, which is shitty in context and we both got very overwhelmed. the place he is working at isn't…
Hi there! Politically, I'm against the private owning of means of production, as well as any systems that allow and or encourage exploitation. I'm also sick and tired of being of being exploited by the owning class, and am trying to explore all my options for avoiding a future in which I spend so much of my time struggling to maintain housing, food for my family, etc. The only advertised escape route is through capitalist actions, most obvious being being some kind of entrepreneur and getting oneself to a point where they are now the exploiter. I don't want that for me, and so I'm trying to discover any and all other options for wealth accumulation without exploitation, if there are any past doing labor directly for someone (ie the way a private contractor is hired directly by the person who needs work done). What do y'all think? What's the…
I too am looking for someone with three heads and eight arms.
Is anyone else in the same boat as me I started applying for jobs June 2023 and it’s now September and I’m sat at home every day unemployed feeling like a huge fuck up all because the economy here is shit Has anyone has any luck in getting a job? I have under 2 years experience and a degree but nobody cares
These people are incredibly self-center for wanting to chase out a good worker while leaving the bad ones employed. Back in my great grandad time they didn't even have jobs. They have to live off the land and were able to take care of themselves. Now days we are force to deal with Neanderthals for next to nothing. People are doing the right thing by dropping out the workforce altogether. Unfortunately not all of us come from a rich family so we have to WORK for a living. If I'm going continue working I am going to find jobs that are away from people. Working away from people may be the way to go.
Throwaway: There's no reason why this should be downvoted but ok. This is the point of the subreddit. I was hired at a job that initially seemed a little sketchy. I was worried about it and expressed it to people before I started. I need a car, and that's fine, but I made it known that I would have access to a car, but the first day I had to take the train and walk 2 miles. My car is in another state right now, and the job made me start before I wanted to. I had interviewed on Monday of last week, and got hired on the spot. Great, but I was also out of town and asked to start after Labor Day, because that made sense to me. I had plans etc. until after the holiday, but I decided to change everything and start the next week (this…
My wife and I are in South Carolina. She is a middle and highschool youth minister at our church. The pastor has mismanaged money and is cutting her hours and her budget to fix it. He had made it clear that he doesn't value her position before the financial trouble so it's not surprising he is singling her out. He gave her a week to decide to go part time with a reduced budget or quit. Is there any advice y'all can give on what to do next?
This new observation that I noticed about work during holidays is that people who are slaves to low paying jobs experience much more stress and much more work during holidays. They overwhelmingly never get those holidays off and are often overworked on holidays like with Labor Day coming up. Only people who are blessed to escape modern day slavery are the ones who could possibly get joy out of holidays since they will often have the day off or at least not have a bigger work load on holiday work.
