Not too sure about my new job.

I work at a manufacturing plant. It's my first week. I was told I would work on the paint line. My job title is leak testing yet they're making me move pipes from crates to carts so they can be oiled. I got this job so I could learn a skill. I'm still in HS so I go to school in the morning and I work from the moment I get out and I don't get back home around 10 PM. Everybody told me that it would be a good job because I could learn stuff but everything I've learned is very job specific. I won't use it anywhere but this job. I worked over the summer at a different place just for some money but tbh Idc care about the money rn I want to learn. My mom says they might just have me start at the bottom and…

Work Wants Us Back Three Days After Mold Found and (Hopefully Removed) From Office

My workplace recently discovered mold growing all over our office after there was an issue with the A/C. The owners had us clear out porous materials from our desks and take home anything we need while a mold remediation company came out to fix the issue. We’ve been working from home for two days now and they want us back tomorrow. Does anyone know if this is an adequate amount of time for the issue to be resolved? I may ask them for a report before coming in, but they haven’t been very transparent with this matter

What are the most senseless job interviews questions you can remember?

I have had many different jobs so far and therefore many job interviews. There have been really good interviews, but this has been the exception. In most of the interviews, however, pointless questions like the following were asked. What are your weaknesses? Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Are you really ready to move? Basically, I (still) feel like working. There are definitely jobs/companies where many things are right, but when questions like these are asked, I no longer feel like working there. What experiences have you had during job interviews?

Having to deal with an a*hole at a new job

Just started my job about a month and a half ago and have to deal with this rude condescending ahole. He interrupts me when speaking, tells me to “stop talking, just listen” etc. I'm in my late 30s and have been a professional for a long time. This guy isn't even my supervisor, though he is a level above me and gives me tasks. I believe he talks like this to me because I'm a woman, haven't seen him act so rude to any men on calls before. If I'd been here a while and established myself I'd probably tell him he can't speak to me like that, but I'm new and just starting to “prove” myself, and he's been here a long time and a level above me. He's annoying enough to make me want to start looking elsewhere…. Having to be a corporate slave for 40+ years already…

America is an extremely cruel society

Does anyone else get this feeling? Like, America hides it behind cultural liberalism and “liberty”, AKA negative rights, and they put a nice veneer of occasional politeness, but holy shit America is like a cartoonishly cruel society that starts at the very top with the glass eyed often pedophilic psychopaths that run this corporatist hellscape and proliferates down to the average American that's a self-centered asshole that despises the poor, despises the marginalized, worships power, and views emotional sadism as the best way to exercise said power. My entire life has been filled with endless cruelty, both the cruelty I've always been shown and the cruelty I've let myself dish out in turn. From childhood I've experienced like a decade of physical reprimands for “misbehavior” and “disrespect” to the point that my earliest memory is literally being beaten with a belt when I was 4, had a father that was…

Refused a job offer and my family is still not over it

I got offered a job as a medical admin in a hospital through connections, at first I thought that's nice and its an opportunity that got handed to me so ill check it out. I went and got interviewed, I already have an experience so that helped and the manager said she liked me and that they have to do a few background checks and the job is mine. The hours are 8.5 hours but they expect you to work more if you needed, and I asked the admin that works there how many hours she works and she said it depends but usually 9-10 and sometimes 10.5-11 hours and just hearing this I didn't like it, also the manager asked me if I'm married and how old am I and when I said that I am not and that I have no kids she said, so you don't have…

CEOs Make Too Much Money – Looking At You Gary Steele

While Gary Steele was Founding CEO of Proofpoint and helped build the company, the compensation Executives receive is insane. He moved to Splunk 18 months ago and is now likely to get a massive payout as they get bought by Cisco. With that news I was looking at the SEC Paperwork and found how much he was being paid – https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1353283/000135328322000006/splk-20220228.htm The Company has entered into an offer letter with Mr. Steele dated February 28, 2022 (the “Offer Letter”). The Offer Letter provides that Mr. Steele’s annual base salary will be $900,000, and his target annual bonus will be 125% of his annual base salary. Mr. Steele will also receive a cash signing bonus in the amount of $8,000,000. In addition, effective as of his start date, as an inducement material to him entering into employment with the Company, Mr. Steele will be granted restricted stock units (“RSUs”) with a…
