Boss found out our upper management has been getting hawaii vacations as bonuses for our hard work.

Colorado state job that never has the money to hire more people to even out the work load, secretly has the money to send upper management to Hawaii every year.

My company founder said the stupidest thing

So I'm gonna start by saying, I actually really love my job. People are great, and my boss is awesome. I work at a place called Lovesac, it's a furniture shop that specializes in sectionals and beanbags. Said boss is this stores manager. She had a gathering of sorts to go to, where they were having all managers from most locations. Idk what this thing was actually called, but it's to update us on policies, new upcoming products, ways to improve sales, etc. The founder made an appearance and gave a lecture. He told everyone there that if someone is right there ready to buy were supposed to say something along the lines of, “you made a great choice. I wish I could afford a couch like this.” Seriously? You want us to advertise that your product are overpriced? (They're pricy but not super overpriced, it's a good product) Not…

Something different than what everyone is used to seeing here.

This is the same boss that sat in his car for an hour and a half while I broke down over the phone w him, and did everything in his power to help me while I sought inpatient care for a month. Doesn't blink an eye or question me when I tell him I can't work or have to leave early, just finds my coverage.

Management took my friends tips ? Help?

For some context, my friend has been working at this place for a few months, they have never taken their tips for a charity fund until last night. She recently quit another location ran by mostly the same people and plans to do the same here. Could they be trying to get over on her because of this? Knowing she’s planning to leave both properties? Is it legal for management to take tips to donate ? Why would management not donate out of their own pocket and their employees ?

Function description selectively ignored

In my line of work there are variants of “juniors”, “seniors” and my function which is like senior plus, doing senior work but getting additional tasks. Whenever they need something done they point towards my function description and give me a “you get paid more, so suck it up” kind of argument. Lately more and more tasks that belong elsewhere get distributed amongst me and the seniors up to the point where I got assigned a task (coordination of personnel) which my function description excludes me from doing. I have sent multiple mails and reminders, had phonetalks where they always have a reason to delay a decision on the subject, escalated it to the higher ups but I keep getting ignored left and right. In the same time span I would come to the same people with different subjects and issues and they get hammered down immediately so it is…

I hate this job market! Rant!

Get on a call for a relationship management role for small businesses. My experience is completely in real estate and it spells it out pretty clearly on my resume. Recruiter is like “so you didn’t work with small businesses originating loans?” I’m like “nope. I originated residential and commercial loans.” And that’s pretty much where the call stopped. I met all the criteria on the job posting but because my experience isn’t in small business lending I’m not “eligible” for the role. It’s like nobody wants to give anyone a chance anymore. It’s demoralizing.

Being salary based has left a bitter taste.

Started my first tech and first salary job about 6 months ago, have been doing really well and getting a lot of praise from my higher-ups. I was aware that salary people in my state typically don't get overtime which kind of sucks, but we don't work that much overtime except 1 day a month. There's a lot of flexibility with my schedule so it seemed to even out for me. Everything was going good so far, until this past week. I was told upfront in the initial interview that each member of my team would work one (full) week including weekends every couple of months based on a rotation. After nearly 6 months I hadn't been put on the rotation yet, TBH I kind of forgot that it was even a thing, but to my surprise I finally got put on it. I figured alright no big deal..Until I…

Had to call in from a flat tire got it fixed within 30 minutes but boss cancels me for today and threatens me for future “mistakes”

I work delivering auto parts my boss is part of a company that hires drivers for warehouses. We use our own cars and fuel reimbursement is laughable compared to what a gallon costs right now ($6 locally) especially based on the distances i drive. I’m driving to work when i noticed a flat, luckily it was right around the corner from a shop that will fix the tire for free if they can. When I arrive the guy says my tires are old and I need new ones but that he’ll see what he can do for the flat. I call in to work to let them know and immediately my boss insinuates im lying (haven’t been late or missed a day since i started). I tell him im hoping it’s a quick fix and i’ll be there in an hour at the latest. I call him back 20 minutes…
