I just had a baby, I applied for short term disability and was approved, the case worker with the third party used to approve / deny the short term disability was beyond unhelpful. This person asked me the same goddamn questions in an email chain that spanned over a month. I told her when I gave birth (while in the hospital) and she replied to my email two days later “did you deliver yet?” So then, comes time to receive 60 percent of my paycheck today, I receive nothing. I literally received a zero paycheck stub. Someone dragged their fucking feet and because of this, I will not receive a paycheck this pay period. And no one could give an absolute shit about what I am going through financially and emotionally. I have had a horrible postpartum experience, (preeclampsia) and cannot get my blood pressure under control. I am not…
Month: September 2023
I’m seeking a part time job to help with expenses. I haven’t applied to a company since before the pand. The last company that I worked for fired me because their app didn’t process my time off request correctly for a meeting with my lawyer. At the time they fired everyone who wouldn’t sign the new employee handbook (one employee that they fired I was acquaintances with and he refused to sign). While I’ve been self employed since doing repairs and mods on furniture, helping out with limited tech support for various video game streamers, and a few Class Action settlements. I’m asking if an employer will be able to see that I worked for that previous company or if I can just not list it.
Huzza wuh?
Yesterday I gave my boss a weeks notice that I would be leaving. My new job simply didn’t give me enough time to give my old job 2 weeks and that’s the truth. I was only able to give them 1 week and 2 days .Oh well. So I told my boss, and she’s super shocked tal’n’ bout.. “I didn’t see this coming” well no shit you didn’t, you’re a bad manager lol. Anyways, today they told everyone in my dept they could go home early and then proceeded to call me into the office and say my last day is actually today. Said that it makes sense for them because the start of their fiscal year is Oct 1. So I ask, why clear the office to tell me that? Lol? I’m not scary or aggressive. Ps. If you need more details to the story to try and understand…
My company is about to F me.
Well, they already have. They changed our health insurance but we didn't get our new cards and stuff until the VERY LAST DAY, leaving no time to line up new providers, etc. I take a $2000 injection monthly and I'm getting the runaround from the new insurance. Our company handbook states that if we quit, we get to keep our health insurance until the end of the month in which we give notice. So they have me on a new project at work. I work from home but go to my boss house about once a week for instructions for that week's tasks. Today he goes over the work, asks me how long it will take, and I say about 2 weeks. He looked at me incredulously like I was blatantly lying. After working for 10 years together, mainly just me and him. So I must quit as this is…
(If the mods want to remove my post I understand) I don't know who will see this, but I need a place to vent as I feel lost in the civilian world. Let me start by saying my military background has conditioned me to act and work a certain way. For starters, I'm not too fond of corporate lingo and “numbers”. It's fake and it is part of the reason the American workforce can't cohesively work together in my personal opinion. Along with shit pay, I understand how every American in my exact position feels. When I left the Navy I did it for mental health reasons and got out on my own terms sorta. Covid was rough on me in my final Years in the Navy I couldn't do a proper checkout process cause my ship had to go to sea for some essential mission. We really went out…
Agitcrop Antiwork Housing Initiative
My partners and I are pioneering a new building template for creating sustainable communities. Our hope is to start a diasporating school around building primary residences without sourcing industrially manufactured construction materials and creating an option for the creation of individual housing that is carbon negative, modular, and belongs to the individual and not the property it sits upon. Please look at our initiative and think of how our goal could benefit your communities. We need to make an option to escape the housing nightmare that has been used to strong-arm people into wage slavery. Now is a great time, the technology is such that doing what was once backbreaking work is now accessible to more people than ever. It is possible to unplug from the rat race and have a significantly better existence without “giving up” your comforts and technology. Even if you can't contribute, please share this initiative.…
Reposting because I posted a screenshot which is labeled as 'Low effort'. New to here so I was unaware of that. Anyways, I (19 M) had applied four times last year while living in a youth shelter. I had worked at a McDonalds in my hometown and was given a really good reference plus some personal references. This year I got two emails from the managers asking for an application because I assume they can't hold any staff down. I've had several friends who have worked there, three from the shelter that quit due to a toxic work environment. After that, I guess they must have had a bad taste in their mouth about the shelter because my friend- who I will refer to as 'A'- had informed me that they actively decline applications from homeless people because of frustration with their work ethic. Yuck. This year I finally moved…
Not sure how to approach this
My coworker threw a cats medication at me last night when I was asking a manager to retrieve the cat for the adopter. I didn't do the paperwork, and that's where the medication was. I mentioned the adopter didn't have it and i was trying to find it for her. My coworker snaps and says “they're with the paperwork.” “I don't have them and you didn't give them to me. I was just told to go over paperwork and that was it. Nothing about medication until now” so she heads over to a random desk and throws them at me and they bounce on my desk. At this point im too stunned to speak so I just say thank you and hand them off. The woman adopting the cat saw everything and i was embarrassed, this is now the second time in a week she's done something like this. Higher…
The title is a bit clunky, but I didn't know how better to phrase it. When you work in the service industry, be it at a restaurant or retail or whatever, you begin to understand how much misery goes into making just one customer satisfied. Service workers work long hours, constantly on their feet, catering not just to customer's physical needs, but mental needs as well. Being cheery, polite, and trying to make conversation with customers to improve the experience is just as taxing as providing the physical service. So, when you get out of work and step back out into the real world, you begin to feel an immense amount of guilt as a consumer. You walk into a coffee shop, and you know exactly the kind of shit those workers put up with and for how little pay. You start thinking about how you are part of the…
The 27th Amendment keeps Congress from being paid. No matter what, Congress will be paid, even if there is a government shutdown. With that in mind, maybe we should have legislation forced through that would fine members of Congress for spending more than the amount of money they would get from Food Stamps be the day with it doubling each day that they break the law. They are not allowed to use credit cards nor allowed to have others pay anything towards their bills. Something like “You are given $5.25 a day for food, housing, etc while government is shut down. If you spend more than that per day, the first day fine is $1000. The second time you spend more than that, the fine is doubled to $2000. A third time would be $4000, and on and on.” We all know that this type of law would not pass…
