Every time I think about leaving I’ve got so much in my 401k already they’ll probably give me so much shit for leaving or make it hard to transfer to my new job. I work for a small private company where hr is the boss. Some time ago my ex coworker quit and she had to contact my boss to get her 401k info. My boss played it like she was busy and purposely took forever. I never thought anything of it until now that I actually want out.

i work at a grocery store that has a clothing department, evening shift, general recovery and customer service stuff. thing is, we dont get very many customers in the evening, so its mostly recovery, and recovery is boring as shit. i have anxiety. my anxiety flares up when i am doing something i dont want to do (work) in a place i dont want to be (work) for an amount of time i dont want to spend (10.5 hours including commute and breaks). my solution to this anxiety is podcasts, for some innoffensive background noise that can keep me grounded and pass the time quicker. this is not allowed at my job for safety reasons. i use them anyway for a bit, get caught thrice, and now i am just going to listen to the goddamn thing without headphones. so if youre shopping at a washington fred meyer and you…

i work for a small family owned automation company, where i work as a junior mechanical engineer. We provide automation solutions for food and pharma. Recently i was on site for project execution/installation during the nights because our client is a HUUUUUGE company that runs production during the day. So for 3 days i was on site on nights making sure my project was installed for a successful handover. After it was installed the first night, the last two nights were used for training as said company runs the sanitation (cleaning of the machine from two shifts, morning and afternoon, of production) during the night shift. This is from something that happened today. I don’t get hit on a lot.. maybe 3-4 times in my entire life. I’m not that pretty, and I have 2 kids with me, and I’ve never taken off my wedding ring. So when I’m in the store and some smelly, obese slob covered in sweat says something gross to me, I’m not exactly flattered. I know the trouble some people are in and how they need to be employed to support themselves and possibly their family. I'm not in that position. I'm in the position that… I applied for a position .. they might not hire me because I have some charges on my background. I'm not a felon and itt's nothing violent, nothing fraud related but.. I've been rejected before. The job I am applying for… they're desperate. They bought a piece of software for $60k and paid consultants $300k over a year to unsuccessfully implement it. When I went to clock in today my boss informed me I'd have to use a app to take a picture of my face in order to clock in. We had no warning about this and no opt out ability

What would you consider sparingly in this instance? A few times a year? A few times a month? Job I applied to said I’d have to work weekends sparingly but it’s usually once a month or twice a month (salary 9-5 position for context)

For years, my company has operated at bare bones where I work. At some point when I came aboard, they realized that the people working there for decades were going to leave soon. I presented my idea of spreading the knowledge around, mainly because fuck that noise I'm not doing it. Unfortunately, I'm the only person who can do a lot of the things right now. They gave me this “acting” title to be the “leader”, told the team to follow me, told me that everything runs through me. Just applied to a few entry level jobs that require 3 interviews, employee and education verification. This isn’t even a high security clearance job or a managerial position. Such a hassle for just $15 an hour. This is why I hate working lol
