Until I’m off probation I am stuck here for 2.5 years. I hate going out and dealing with these people. Who has good work from home recommendations? It’s horrible here. Only the white gays are accepted more here. I studied in Europe at a young age so my views are so different than these people.

Recently applied to a marketing job that’s a bit below my pay and experience level but after being laid off, I can’t be too picky. However this job pays a little over $50k expecting manager type responsibilities but with mid-level/entry pay expecting 50 hours a week. I calculated that to about $21.54 an hour before taxes. EVEN with all of this, I considered it bc I’m a bit desperate. But the kicker?? They asked for 3 pieces of work for their company (they “promised” they wouldn’t use the work) before even having a single interview to see your work… as opposed to just asking for a portfolio. What?! I have to do work before even being remotely considered? Do work before having any information from them or knowing what they’d want to change from their last strategy? Create something and just hope they don’t take it or modify just enough…
I work at a vet clinic, and because of that I get very good benefits and discounts. I am moving in March, so I gave them a six month notice and told them that my last day would be in February. Today, I took my dog in to get a surgery where usually the price is about $2000 but for me it usually is 400 or less. When I was checking my dog in, my manager asked what she was in for and I told her. It didn’t seem to be a problem then. After the entire surgery was already said and done, my manager pulled me into the office to tell me that I will not be getting the discount anymore. She said that this was in the employee handbook and I should have known this already. I told her if I would’ve known that this morning, I probably…
Me and a plus 1 were invited to an exclusive managers-only Christmas party and I excitedly RSVP’d for myself and my husband. Found out today that they’d like if I helped with some aspects of the event the night of, but I won’t be paid for it. My boss said “you wouldn’t be working exactly, just helping”. Sooooo just say I’ll be working and not getting paid for it, then Important notes: I am a manager on a small scale, and the manager above me is our regional manager. They get paid significantly more and because I’m the one who does the most for this group of people at my company, I was invited and not her. So not only am I already doing the work of a regional manager, and have been for a long time, I also have not had a raise in 2 years. I have remained…
I had an interview today at Staples from 3:30 to 4:00. Ten minutes prior to my interview concluding, I was texted saying that they're going with a different candidate. Was told by interviewer that they're doing interviews until close of business Friday. What would be their motivation to do this?

Location: Germany. Recently I got a bullshit explanation that a vacation day only covers 8 work hours, and if you work 12 hours, one must spend 1.5 vacation day to cover the 12 hours shift. This is the first time I ever heard this, and I have worked 12 hour shifts for near all my life. Never heard this. I always thought that a Vacation Day means a calendar day, 24 hours. The clue is in the name. I looked at law, and nowhere did I found this explanation, which to me sounds complete and utter bullshit.
