Workplace wants us to say Merry Christmas when answering phones, we’re not allowed to Happy Holidays.

This is a retail store. I’m not religious, I don’t celebrate Christmas religiously. Is this legal? I feel Happy Holidays is more inclusive, and extends into new years. I’d rather just answer the phone how it’s done the rest of the year. But when I was told this today in preparation for the upcoming holiday madness, it really put up red flags. EDIT: this is in the USA

I don’t like being touched, but am I being over sensitive?

I work in a job where I see drivers a lot. I am female and they are male. I know they are just being friendly and mean no harm but they’ll say “smile” followed by a higher “smileeeee” I do smile, but I’m not there to smile. What bothers me most is how some of them will pat me on the back, rub my arm or touch it when I give them their work. They don’t mean it to hurt me, just to be a typical working in that environment thing. I work in an office FYI. I’ve told someone else before and he didn’t do it again. He wasn’t offended, just understood that I didn’t like it. It makes me nervous and on guard when these specific people are nearby. EDIT; I just generally don’t like being touched. Not just at work.

Still have access to my company email that canned me after working there for two weeks. What can I do with it?

It was a startup and there's only 3ish employees there, no HR or accounting or legal team or anything. They let me go they day after I returned from my honeymoon, which I took right after my wedding. Both of which they knew I had on my calendar before they hired me. Oh and I had just learned we're expecting our first child. I'm not looking for revenge, necessarily, but considering it's a “paid” email address (Microsoft Office/365/outlook whatever), are there things I can access with it that I wouldn't be able to with gmail? Any other ideas?

Do well, and you can even park at work

Even I reported at the dealership, they refused to deal with a major parking problem for employees. They even owned land next door, renting the adjacent strip mall but refused to let us park there. I can never find parking at my vet in my small town. I can't imagine the employees have anywhere to park, and feel bad for them. This apparently is how the overlords there deal with it: You can park only if you're the best. No street parking either, legally. Look, I know this is usually a legit thing for employers to do … When there's not a problem. But this? Do better, assholes. Time for a new vet the GAF about its employees! PSA for Mods: This is not a text or social media post, nor news article. Picture is one, live at my vet's office.

Tired of Applying!

Customize the resume to each job. Write a pointless cover letter each time. Connect with people online to build relationships. Get the exact job skills and duties that are needed only to never get a damn call back or interview. I hate applying. I hate recruiters. I hate this whole process.

2k upvotes and I’ll get a job

Lost my car the last day of February and have been working odd jobs and selling all my belongings since. Maybe your upvotes is good luck or motivation to keep trying.

actually found a decent job

Hey yall, it's been awhile since the last time I made a post on here, and I'm a long time lurker. I recently started training at a new job that I expected to be another shitty experience. But after talking with a bunch of people who've been here awhile, I've come to find out that this company (Japanese based, about 1000 employees just at our facility) actually treats their employees pretty good. They had some issues about 10 years ago with safety, but have made a full 180. They're paying decent wages and give plenty of overtime if you ask for it. Plus, some people have told me that if you mess up an order, as long as you are honest about what happened, they don't seem to mind all that much unless it was a major fuck up. The only bad thing I've heard is that in some departments,…

My employer is breaking the law

I’ve posted in here a million times bitching about my job. Ik I look like a whine ass but this place is bogus.I work in property management for a residential landlord under the title of office assistant. I basically do whatever they tell me. Today I learned that our state passed a law last Friday that application fees for rentals can’t be over $20. We’ve been charging $40. I was not notified of this. My applicant told me she refused to apply due to this. I call my boss. He knows. He’s putting it on the back burner. I explain to him that the applicant doesn’t want to apply bc of this. Maybe there’s a way to work it out for her. “If she’s that big of a pain in the ass we won’t be renting to her” Wtfff. Not only that but tenants called and mentioned the overwhelming amount…

Talent Acquisition Lied About Benefits…What Can I Do?

Here is my situation timeline in a nutshell (US): – Applied for a project-based (2 year) role and contacted by Talent Acq. for this job in August 2023. – After a few interviews, I received an offer verbally. I asked when I received it on the phone if it includes FULL benefits. She said yes, it includes full benefits following 3 months of hire (so I could apply after 90 days). – I received the contract (written offer). I work in contract logistics so I 100% understand the importance of reviewing the details of your contract, which I did. In the contract, I only saw medical benefits included (not vision and dental). – When I called the TA woman back, I asked her about that. She said that previously, project roles DID NOT include benefits, but now they do, and the company documents were not updated. She confirmed again I…
