This is so beyond unacceptably inappropriate that I'm floored. The lack of professionalism and basic respect is embarrassing. Our CEO is in town briefly, bouncing between one of their many properties, and decided to make everyone come in to “have fun” before they leave. It's Wednesday, during major holiday crams and end of season/quarter projects, and this maniac wants everyone to drop their lives and come in for a full week of pointless meetings and “activities” in 3 days. Personally, this creates chaos for people who have been working hybrid schedules (some fully remote) with no issues for 3 years. Forget childcare and other personal obligations. At the shop i work at in marlette michigan where they make headliners and assemble door panels. We got told today that on the 22nd of december door line will be laid off at 11:59, also on the 22nd they are termanating benifits. The people that get to stay were choosen by the good ole boy system and seniority dont mean shit. Dude thats been here for 10 years will be let go but the guy thats been here a week gets to stay… i swear on the 22nd i am gonna use the front office lavatory and leave them a parting gift of a upper decker

For context, I'm a teacher. Things are not alright this week. I can't give a lot of detail for privacy. The essence is that there was a deadly weapon on the greater campus for what feels like the millionth time. Both in the news and also in the literal schools I've worked at. It leaves me empty inside every time, the specifics of this instance are particularly painful. No one was hurt. Separate from the weapon incident I had to yell at multiple adults who were cornering and yelling at a child for an undocumented policy. My wife was unable to get the accreditation she wanted in college so she graduated with a BS in Medical lab science and was looking at another program to get this accreditation and the director thought she would be a good fit in the program. She asked the director if they could help get her a job between now and June when the program starts so she could save up for the fee for the program. They got her in as a medical center lab associate and was offered a pay of $16 an hour. Which I thought was rather low but the job is basically only checking in samples and distributing to the appropriate labs and only requires a HS diploma. She has since discovered 2 months in that the avg starting pay is $21/hr. It seems highly unethical to offer someone 25% below the avg rate in hopes…

In April 2022, I took a pretty crappy admin job paying 43k/year and 10 days PTO. I’ve had a small raise since then and make 46,000 now. This is still nothing in NYC but I graduated and then got laid off in the pandemic and didn’t have much choice. What really just pissed me off is finding out my coworker started with the same title as me 8 years ago but was offered 50k and 15 days of vacation. The job offer quite literally got worse for the same position and duties expanded. And on top of that, since I have only 10 days off a year I try to plan vacations around holidays we already get off but I always get denied for those. What's the point of that? I have to take off late December for something personal and important. Not leisurely and unavoidable. Told my bosses what it is, was told all of the bottom half of December was an automatic decline to requests, even if you have a balance. I asked if I can make it up by working 4 extra hours for two days or even make it up over the weekend and they said that is fine. Then told me to go ahead and fill out the request anyway. I get that salary positions mean no OT is entitled, but why do I still have to use my vacation hours then… I'm totally even happy working all weekend to make up any work…if they left my balance alone…

I work in dietary (I forgot to add this so I had to edit it) My probation ended at work and I got unsatisfactory/dosnt meet company standards on EVERYTHING. My attendance was rated unsatisfactory even tho I got there early everyday,stayed late,and never really called in unless I was bent over clutching my stomach.My dressing was rated unsatisfactory even tho when I went in for my interview I asked what I should wear and my supervisor said what I was wearing is fine so that’s what I always wore,khaki pants and a decent (usually all black) shirt. At the company I work for, all staff are awarded bonuses based on the goals they are provided to complete before the end of the year. Mine and the colleagues goals were set by our CEO who we all directly report to. It may be worth noting that I have a decent relationship with the CEO as I started out as her assistant and worked my way up. In general, she’s always taken care of me financially and up until now, I’ve never had to ask for a raise or negotiate salary/bonuses.
