Why do recruiters waste so much of our time?

I had a phone interview/screening for a job I applied for recently and the recruiter seemed to like my experience and skills and referred to me a position they’re looking to fill, but before we can move forward to hiring I had to be interviewed by one of her colleagues. Fast forward to that zoom interview with her colleague and her colleague pretty much tells me I’m lacking one specific experience they’re looking for despite me meeting most of the requirement. So here’s my rant…why do recruiters waste our time? My resume pretty much indicated my experience yet, they decided to say it’s not a great fit coz I’m lacking on particular skill. Couldn’t they just have said that during my phone interview? That’s all. End of rant. TLDR: if you’re a recruiter, please look at your candidates resume

Mandatory training presentation is cutting into my lunch time.

I know this isnt as bad as some posts on this sub, but its still frustrating. I am paid for the meeting, but it still messes me up. I work in an appointment based job, so we can't really shift our lunch hour if a meeting needs to be at a certain time. Our schedule is such that we close for an hour and we all take lunch at the same time. On Wednesdays, we close for 2 hours for lunch and a meeting. Sometimes that meeting is at another location. We are expected to clock out for lunch at 12, be at the meeting by 1230, meeting is over by 130 and we have to be to work by 2. So we have 30 minutes before the meeting and 30 minutes after, so technically we still get that hour lunch. But, 30 minutes is not enough time to run…

Former employer called for help

My former employer called me the other day to ask if I would help the new guy with his accounts. After years of top performance with little to no support, I decided to leave my job in September. Since no one ever cared enough to learn about my territory, I never put anything into the CRM. They have no clue what I was working on or who my contacts were. Now they have hired someone, with no sales experience, and had the audacity to ask if I would help the new guy get a handle on the territory. It took everything I had not to laugh. I politely reminded them that they could have retained my services, but chose not to do so.

Exit interview with HR – how to stick it right up their arse?

Today I resigned from my job of 9 years, happily moving on to better pay with reduced commute. Manager took it well & understood my reasoning but I have been called for a meeting with HR this week to explain my actions. HR manager has pissed me off before, she called me unprofessional for refusing to agree to change department on a zoom call with no warning (in a big meeting. HR: Ian, you are joining accounts. Me: I'm happy to help out but we need to discuss change of role. I'm not agreeing to anything without details. HR: let's chat later. Later. HR: what you said in the meeting was unprofessional 🙁 What I really don't like is she has fired a lot of friends and long time colleagues in the last 2 years. I'm leaving anyway, any suggestions on how to subtly (or not) tell them to fuck…

I can only average 6 productive working hours in an 8 hour day.

I'm often at a desk doing computer work, and I just can't be fully productive for 8 full hours. I still get what I need done and I don't create more work for others. Anyone else?

Stressed about work and life! What should I do?

First time poster, long time lurker. (Throw away account) I'm writing this out on my phone and I've never posted before, but I'll try my best so bear with me. I (21M) had lived with my parents until I was 20 (I am the youngest of 5). I felt that it was time to be able to move out and start making decisions for myself. I decided to move five states away to the west coast (I am originally from there) and live with a cousin of mine so I could get on my own to feet. It took about 2 months, but I was able to find a WFH job. I was glad and rather surprised that I was able to have a WFH job. For context, I work for a call center (it could be considered telemarketing but whatever). In the beginning it wasn't bad, but always felt…

I signed an offer letter at the beginning of November for a new job. I don’t start the new job until January 8th.

It's torture keeping my mouth shut. I'll give notice Dec 11 that the 29th is my last day and take the week of the 1st off to chill. I know my current job will likely offer considerably more money than the new place to stay. They won't give me the 9/80 work week the new job will or the other benefits I'll be getting. This will also be the third time I've “quit” this place. I can't stay focused. Haha

Can one quit immediately after their FMLA leave period is over?

Signed a 2year contract for a job with a retention bonus. From the first week, I noticed red flags but stuck around hoping it got better. Now I am 1.5 yrs and boy was I wrong. I got sick with covid and my manager gave me a level 2 corrective action. HR told me to file FMLA to get covered. I also sent a complaint about previous incidents where the manager was making it a hostile environment. I think it would be pointless to come back after FMLA to a shitty situation and possible retaliation from my manager for reporting her and putting in my notice. Is it ok to tell them I won't be coming back at the end of my leave?
