Should I attempt job interview for promotion in the workplace?

What stops everyone from seeking more opportunities in the work place at slightly higher remuneration? The pay difference could be between 8K for the first 3 years, and if all goes well could be up to 2OK at its maximum per year on top of current salary. It obviously comes with more responsibilities, stricter deadlines, and unsure of the impacts with current work/life balance.

Am I being over sensitive or does my manager hate me?

Recently our staffing got moved around, and while the job is the same, the buildings we’re in are different, with new managers. I got along fine with my old coworkers and managers, with no complaints. My new manager has yet to say a hello, good morning, etc. The only thing she says is my morning assignments and to complain I haven’t done something fast enough. I chalked it up to maybe she’s just rude or she’s just not one for niceties. Today (on my fourth day in the new building) the upper management went around to inspect our workspaces while I was on lunch. She texts me to call her when I get back. When we meet up, she brings me inside the storage closet where there’s three other coworkers and proceeds to tell me the upper management “had a fit” at how messy the closet was and that she…

Worked crazy overtime, catching shit for taking off early this Weds

Work in cybersecurity, salary employee, unlimited PTO These past three weeks we've dealt with a serious security breach. It caused me to work Sun-Fri one week for a total of 105 hours (no joke) and the next week for a total of 58 hours, for a total of 163 hours in a 2 weeks. This past week, I took off Monday to recover. Then I took off Friday as well. Next week, I wanted to take off after 1pm (what would be half day) for thanksgiving travel. Boss asked me in front of everyone “so youre taking off that early before a break and you just took off Friday, and you have a week long conference after Thanksgiving?” “Yes, I worked 20 business days (160 hours) in a matter of 10 business days (those two weeks of hell from the incident).” “Ok, but you wont be at work for a…

Broke 3 bones at work

So I spent most of Friday filling out workers comp paperwork while I waited for an xray for my swollen foot. At the beginning of my shift I was asked to get a glass windshield ready for transport. Being that my company does not store glass properly and has no place for us to rebox the glass, it's pretty risky to handle it. This windshield weighed about 80 pounds and slipped while I was trying to make a box for it. It of course had to land right on my foot. The doctor said from the X-ray that it was broken in 3 places. I was told no driving, but told I could continue working. So my boss of course threatened to fire me if I did not come back to work. I explained that since I was now restricted from driving I would need some time to arrange transportation…

Coping with being broke

I was fortunate enough to pick up a second job. Before this, I never really spent money on hobbies or things to do. I would do a lot of free or cheap things like hiking, reading, video games, etc. Now that I have a second job, I’m able to spend a bit of money on hobbies every month without cutting into my savings. I used to tell myself I liked minimalism, I didn’t need a lot of things to be happy. Turns out that was 100% me just coping with being broke. I was able to start building figures, start taking dog sports more seriously, afford decent camping gear with some extras to make it more comfortable/convenient. I have finally been able to decorate my gaming room and buy some furniture for it. I have even been able to experiment with cooking in new ways, like buying better cuts of…
