New workplace lied about full time job and giving me only PT hours.

Because of the top secret clearance interim, I am stuck or pay them thousands in penalty due to the contract. I applied to a full time position Mon-Fri and completed my one month training. Received my schedule and it’s far from what was promised. Some of the shifts are two hours only for a 30+min commute. Sometimes they have me scheduled twice in the same day day and night on WEEKENDS. I have contacted my recruiters, LT, and HR. They said they’ll fix it but if I don’t show up for this week’s schedule it will count as a strike. They never disclosed the probationary time means part time hours and I can’t pay my bills with these hours. I would get more from unemployment than working there and they won’t give me the hours because I’m under probation. I either pay the penalty and have this potentially be on…

Unfairly laid off by boss due to “unprofessional behaviour.

You read that correctly. What was this behaviour you may ask? It was doing a fortnite dance when informed that I would Recieve a promotion. I like watch videos of black men shaking their booty cheeks, I don’t know why, but when I click on a video and see a black man shaking his cheeks, it just makes me drool and I start dancing with the black man as well. This whole place is Neckbeard central. If you can’t get out of bed, who are you to tell the world what to do? I understand the people who were genuinely laid off or denied because of stupid reasons, but many of you are fat and lazy. Seriously. The mods for this sub are chinless invertebrate jellies. You can downvote, ban, mute but you’ll have to live with your own failure until you decide to fix it.

Be honest about your old boss

I've been in apartment maintenance for the last 4 years, and have gone though 3 companies in that time. In this line of work, I've been severely underpaid, verbally abused by tenants and management, I've been illegally banned from going into units out of management's inability to do their job or understand fair housing law, and expected to do literally every gross thing or lift every heavy thing. These things are not in my job description. I started in section 8 and low income housing. It's rough of you don't know what you're getting yourself into, and in my line of work I was already pretty seasoned for seeing disgusting things. But management is completely apathetic. “Ma'am, there's a blood-like stain that's 4 feet by 2 feet in the middle of the living room floor. No I cannot fix that, we need new carpet, and I'm not a flooring guy”…

Getting discouraged by corporate sycophants in the workplace

The company that I work with has made a lot of changes in the last few months, as the laws surrounding the products we sell(cannabis) have shifted, and we've gone from having a very medicinal “here for the people” vibe to a severely corporate “we're just in this for the money” feel. The company's concern for accessibility accommodations for the medicinal consumers and employees alike have waned considerably. HR is a bygone relic, as submissions about concerns like medical accommodations not being met or ableist management openly implying their intentions to segregate employees needing medical accommodations go ignored for weeks if not months on end. They've started cutting our hours back despite making more now than ever before and have openly defied and delayed a union peace agreement after the employees were able to get the majority's signatures. A job that I was once passionate beyond measure about causes me…

So it begins…

Halloween was just a couple weeks ago. Its still almost a month and a half before Christmas. We're still at the begining of November. Christmas is at the end of December. Thanksgiving ain't even here yet. That ain't even Jesus's birthday or nothing. This is a retail nightmare.

Is it worth it to stay in a position

I’ve had a rocky start to learning a new position. The stress in the last two weeks of doing it independently has really impacted my mental well-being & knowing I’m performing poorly makes it worse. I believe part of the issue is that I have no pm skills and I’m learning from someone that came into the position as a strong former pm, so it’s taking me a while to catch on when they think I should have it already. It’s not as a pm, just that I think the pm skills help greatly for this position. When I think of even doing one more item related the position my chest starts to hurt and I feel like I stop breathing, I didn’t know I could dread it this much. In addition, I never imagined myself doing something like this. I come from a computer science background and had taken…

Has anybody ever pivoted career fields?

Hello, I'm seeking advice on transitioning to a new career path to boost my income. For the past 7 years, I've been involved in various roles within public health and insurance, covering program management, utilization management, risk mitigation, and account management. I hold both a bachelor's and a master's degree, with the latter being an MSW focused on communities and organizational leadership. Currently earning around $80k, my aim is to elevate this to $120k-$140k in the coming years. Has anyone successfully shifted from one field to another? I'm contemplating roles in program management and account management as I aim to move from healthcare to a business-oriented field. Additionally, I'm open to pursuing an MBA, especially if a company can cover 80% to 90% of the costs. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

New grad with mostly unpaid experience, anxious about background checks.

Just recently graduated from university and I’m in the process of job searching. I haven’t received any job offers yet but I’ve been getting anxious about what to do when the time comes for a background check. I have my experiences listed on my resume as work experience but there is only one I was officially paid for. Other than that, I’ve done two unpaid internships for non-profits abroad and before that, I “worked” for my dad as he’s self-employed and makes documentaries. I mean I did work for my dad, but I was never officially his employee or anything. Would I still list everything when the time comes for a background check? I’m worried because my two internships were abroad and although I could reach out to my former supervisors and ask them to be references, they have foreign numbers so we only communicated via whatsapp. Then as for…
