I was gonna come on here and share the “sad news” that I finally got fired from the hell scape. I’ve been out for the past two years and they will now have to pay me to not work for them for two months. But it seems like a ton of folks were posting about getting fired yesterday. How are we all feeling? Any advice we should be sharing with one another? Do you think it was justified? Are you planning legal action? My condensed story is that I was telling one of my leads I had exhausted resources trying to follow up and the document needed to be sent. She was rude so I asked if she’d like if I worked with other leads instead since I’m not having these problems with anyone else. She didn’t respond, spoke with leadership, and without talking to any of my other leads,…

Low morale
My past work experiences I've been known as a hardworker. One failed job promotion because management didn't see me as a 'good fit'. I wasn't the best at sales and I understood that. I stepped down after a bunch of disrespect from superiors. Now in the job I have now I get complaints that I'm not productive enough when I have been actively trying to make steps to improve my workflow. Which was never taught to me. I missed break or often took breaks late. I miss a few things from time to time which I think is human error given the sheer volume of work in my inbox on a regular basis. I don't think I deserve to be told I'm not a 'good fit'. I feel like it's the past repeating itself and my mind is having a hard time rationalizing that. How should I try to argue…
I hate applying for jobs…
So i’m trying to apply for a 2nd job, i figured id try for Fedex since they have a location close to my current job. The shift they have open is perfect for my schedule, and i’ve worked for them previously in a different state. about an hour after i applied, i got these messages. I’m just confused why i was denied for not meeting the qualifications even though i definitely do? and to top it all off, i have to deal with automated bots that can’t give me any kind of info or contact number…. i hate having to get a 2nd job as it is, but this is just salt in the wound at this point. guess it’s onto other options for this guy…
When do I tell them I’m pregnant?
I apologize if this isn't the correct subreddit to post this in, please point me in the right direction if it's not. For a little bit of context I am a contractor through an employment agency with this company. I started in March of 2023, with a 6-month contract that got renewed in August of 2023. We just found out last week that it's been renewed again until June of 2024. This company does mostly contract work, so even if they like you, if there isn't a spot on a contract for you you have to wait until one becomes available. It's a really good job, and I don't have to be chained to my computer so it makes it easy to take care of my 2-year-old. I really don't want to lose it. I found out I was pregnant in August, and I've only told one other person, a…
Written up for being sick?
Im being written up for being sick 9 days in the past month. It was 3 and 4 days consecutively. I had a cold and a chest infection and couldn’t speak at all. My manager also advised me not to come in in cause we can’t risk getting the pregnant lady sick. I had a performance review meeting today with HR and my VP. I was told that being sick for 9 days is unnaceptable and that i’m being written up. Is this normal?
Tired of 5 day workweek
My life is boring because I don't have enough time to do interesting things. I recently got my first job after uni and I'm glad that I at least have a 100% free time after work instead of needing to do homework but 8 hours a day for 5 days a week is still too much. I live in Poland so I think there's no chance for 4 day workweek or less than 8 hours a day because here people just don't do that shit. There's even a statistic that polish people are the most overworked in the whole Europe.
Great use of time 🙂
I have no idea how adults do it
This may sound dramatic but I’m generally worried for when I’ll have to get a full time job it just seems so draining especially if I need up working for a company that treats its employees badly . I’ve been working for a year now (I’m 16 ) and every employer I’ve had expects to much from me even if I outlined what I can /can’t do in the interview before they hired me it’s either to many hours/ no hours or work that’s not it in my job description . I’m in full time school and pulling 20-25 hrs a week just to take some fiancial weight off my parents so they don’t have to buy stuff for me aswell as saving up for the future like university ,driving lessons and just basics like school stuff . What are you guys doing to have a work life balance and…
Many job openings ask for a cover letter: how is a resume not enough? This nonsense needs to stop, it’s a waste of time and completely unnecessary imo. Thinking about just using a generator and be done with it. Tempted at times to just send a cover letter that says “check the resume”.
Denied holiday pay
So that's about it my company denied my holiday pay because my child got violently ill yesterday and I had to leave early. Now my check is going to be 3 days light and I won't be able to make rent. Just in time for Christmas!!
