A month in and I'm just now realizing that this job sucks. The hours (working late night then morning the next day), the task and the pay is all crap. They literally want you to go above and beyond for the absolute minimum wage. Meanwhile on orientation the manager was talking about how well and busy the store does. I didn't think it'd be such a problem until two of the managers come around and critique what I do, their not entirely rude about it but somehow whenever they're around I'm always doing something wrong. We have self check out but it's not actually self check out so you have to scan evervone's items for them while also directing people to different registers, this would be fine if we weren't always somehow understaffed while I'm on the front floor. Then somehow if you're not scanning and there's still a line…
Month: November 2023
I want to start out by saying that I have full respect for the men that did receive promotions, they were also deserving, we all worked our butts off last year with 850+ inches of snow and that's that. But my point of this post is a much more glaring issue. So here's the tea: Out of our 60 ops employees, 8 are women. Out of our 15 individuals in leadership, shift management basically the next step up, 1 of them is female. She has been the only woman promoted in the last 3 years. -There is no written or established criteria to earn a promotion here, you express your interest in promotion and are chosen by administration. This year, at least 4 women expressed interest in promotion, Three of whom have 2 years experience at this resort. One has 4 years cumulative and 1 year here. None were promoted.…
Later on in the conversation, I asked him what he would do if he won the lottery. “I would quit this job in a second.”
We’re all scheduled to go to work every other sunday. One group that makes up about half of our area goes in to work and the other has the day off. It had been a thing that our manager sometimes (mostly days in which there’d be a lot of work or they’d be shorthanded) asked someone to volunteer to come in on a sunday they have off, and most of the time no one would volunteer lol, which pissed her off. And so, a month ago we had a meeting and they said they’d select someone from each group every fortnight to be on call that Sunday they have if not outright told the day before that they have to come in. The parameters she mentioned for the on-call thing was that we’d have to be available from 7AM-8:30AM to take a call to come in case they need us…
Fired for speaking up
Wow, what a day. Just received a call from the Plant Manager that I was terminated effective immediately after an HR investigation. The story: I began working at this place in March of 2018 as a temporary employee. After 3 months they were bending over backwards to hire me. I have a great work ethic and routinely went above and beyond to finish the work, even helping others. Not bragging, as this job was so easy compared to where I've worked before. Around 3 yrs into shipping/receiving position, my supervisor kept piling work on me and allowing other employees to slack. I complained to upper management which basically went no where. So I opted to go to 3rd shift forklift material handler. The blenders who make the batches that I sat up for them were beyond belligerent. I was cursed repeatedly, harassed and bullied night after night. After complaining to…
Front Line Management
Anyone else feel like front line management gets the actual short end of the stick!????? Employees think you’re the enemy, bosses think you’re the enemy, guests think you’re the enemy….. you’re over here busting your ass for all of the above meanwhile all 3 categories say you’re lazy and do nothing

What happens if you can’t work?
I'm able to work.. I even like my projects and the people I work with are nice.. but I just can't handle working full time hours.. every job I've had I get burnt out so fast, I start to get sick, my neck and back get stiff. I have no energy. No inspiration. And soon I can't even get myself to go to work anymore and cant even conplete the projects.. if I was able to work on my own terms and take breaks enjoy the outdoors on a nice day, spend time with my family and work when I have the inspiration it would be okay.. but being forced to work 8-5 every day in some dark cubicle from first light til darkness with people chattering all around you is just maddening.. I know others have it worse.. and in the past people worked more hours, and I need…
