Legal – trans code of conduct

Originally shared in some trans subreddits and also advised to share in a legal one, no real response since I slept and I have work in a couple hours so I'll post this here and hopefully get something from it. So I'm a trans fem overnight cashier at a gas station in Texas and fairly recently started dressing fem at work including skirts and dresses and hats with rainbow hearts etc, full time the last couple of weeks and using a fem name on paper work (Cynthia, mostly shortened to Cyn though) including correcting on posted schedules, but didn't explicitly tell management anything… Was occasionally wearing some religious shirts (not Christian) as well before transitioning to more fem attire. Nothing had officially been said to this point. They've now required a uniform shirt, they had a list up awhile back asking for sizes and how many but didn't list any…

Story-time and Venting: I am so tried and dejected by lying, bait and switch employers

I am struggling today and am venting. My lifetime movie and obnoxious soapbox moment is below. Apologies for wild typos! It has been a fucking day. Since 2021 I have been having an absolute hell of time finding any employment where I am not bait and switched, manipulated and fucked over. I am just upset and done over it but I have to just keep continuously flinging myself into the 21st century employment meat grinder to try to keep a roof over my head. I had dreams and aspirations once. I am sure everyone here did as well. 2021- I left a job I actually loved and people I loved because there was genuinely no room for advancement and prices in my area where making it to where I couldn’t confidently pay all my bills any more. I interviewed and accepted a remote position with a research company. They described…

Bloomberg pro-WFH article finally

Bloomberg Letting People Work From Home Is Good for Companies’ Revenue Growth https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-11-14/work-from-home-jobs-are-good-for-companies-revenue-growth-study-shows Companies that allow remote work have experienced revenue growth that’s four times faster than those that are more stringent about office attendance, a new survey shows, adding fuel to the debate over productivity and performance in today’s workplaces. The analysis of 554 public companies that employ a collective 26.7 million people found that “fully flexible” firms — which are either completely remote or allow employees to choose when they come to an office — increased sales 21% between 2020 and 2022, on an industry-adjusted basis. That compares with 5% growth for companies with hybrid or fully onsite workforces. The study, by flex-work advisor Scoop Technologies Inc. and Boston Consulting Group, included companies across 20 sectors, from technology to insurance. Revenue growth was normalized against average industry growth rates so that employers in better-performing areas would not skew the findings. Among the companies that did require…

Leaving my job I said I’d be at long term for.

Was I wrong for quitting my job I said I would be around long term for? I accepted a position working and managing a very popular shop in a tourist town. I was 1 of 3 employees and we had two locations. I was in charge of everything that consists of running a store including the graphic design used to promote the buisness and managed the online website. I opened and closed the store daily, organized the displays and kept track of customers, and even managed the inventory. My boss heavily relied on me, as she would only work the store on my days off. She emphasized how it was such a hard position to fill because she needed someone she could trust with her business but also have the knowledge to promote what we sold. I was living alone and single at the time and thought this would be…

I’m being paid less than stated

So I recently started a new job in October. This week I got my first pay check and noticed that my pay rate was $12. When I was hired the email from HR stated that I would be starting at $15. I emailed HR and stated this and they said that it was an error on that email and it should have been discussed during my interview. Am I entitled to that $15 or is that email not valid?

My superior has requested that I do clinical work in Spanish.

I do not speak Spanish. This is in Washington State. I have never been trained on these materials and there are neurological status inferences that will be made through this work. What legal issues are there with employers requesting that you do work in languages you don’t speak? What about for those that are clinical?

What would you do if the job you got hired for had nothing to do with the description?

I can do my new job according to the description but the actual job has nothing to do with the description and they left out extremely important information during the interview process (travel…. And I get bad travel anxiety) What would you do?

Where’s the door?

I currently work in cellular retail sales for a management company under a large corporate brand. There have been a large number of red flags of late. We started as a new crew under a manager brought in after the last whole set of workers got bounced for fraud/theft. We are in an isolated location from the rest of our district and in the last month the District Manager has quit and been replaced; then they forcibly moved our store manager across the state. I should note that I started the first of September and the other two people after that. We have at this point barely been trained on store/company specifics and have still been digging out issues from the last crew. We lost one of the other workers due to the assistant district manager advising we could only ever have two days off a week even if we…
