My assistant manager Jill was on her phone at the register, my coworker Gunther was behind her counting his receipts for a cashout. I asked Jill for a cashout since it's past my clock out time. She takes my receipts and asks me to go check that all the tables are clean, I said okay and go get the required cleaning items. The moment I step into the dining room area it hits me that Gunther was still clocked in just looking at his receipts. Why did Jill ask me to clean tables but not Gunther when he was just standing there? I've seen them hangout a LOT after work but even during work they are very friendly and chatty. There was only 1 table for me to clean and I did it quick and went to the dishwasher area to drop all the dishes. Jill calls me back to…

Douchebags
I hate how the job search connects me to people who are the most insincere, shitty, superficial, dumbest, and overall horrible people. People over-promise or don't mean what they say. They are never direct and they get your hopes up only to really disappoint. The worst are recruiters. They are the most idiotic people on this Earth. One idiot messaged me about a cybersecurity position that he had while I was in the hospital. He messaged me through LinkedIn and did not bother to call or email. When i got out the guy was like “Hey, you've got to respond better to communications.” Moron. Months later I got an internship and while people on LinkedIn were congratulating me the same guy left a comment like, “Oh hey, we're really trying to hire for police station…” Like I'm supposed to be on call for these piles of shit. The employers suck…

Non-profit work isn’t any better
For anyone hoping to ditch the corporate world and find work in any kind of non-profit space: it's not any better here. Been working in a field that was my volunteer passion for years and I've never been at a more chaotic and drama filled place. The joy of actually doing something good in the world is completely crushed by leadership that constantly fails to live to up to their stated values or admit when they're wrong ever. At when a blood sucking business does it you kinda know not expect any better from them.
“What’s the lowest you’ll accept?”
I got laid off from a job recently. A recruiter contacted me about an opportunity, I sent in my resume, etc. During this process, he asked “What did you make in your last job?” which I have no problem sharing. I had an in-person interview today. When I got to the interview, they gave me the list of responsibilities (which ranged everything from what I would consider HR duties, accounts payable, payroll, front desk, administrative support and so on). They want someone there between 7:30 am to 5 pm but also available some evenings and weekends if they have events or customer meetings. After all of the questions, they said “We see you have this amount listed as your salary expectation, but what is the lowest amount you would be willing to accept?” They had my previous salary written on the top of the paperwork, so they already knew, before…
Even though this person is on their last write up for it. My co worker is really great, when they are at work. They are helpful and knowledgeable. But they are late so much, and they are not reliable. Last month they were late 14 times. They over slept and been a no show no call but somehow they still have this job. Yesterday, they said they were gonna be late so I had to hurry out of my house to get to work early to cover. My other co worker wasn’t feeling well and was hoping to have our late co worker come in so she can leave. That didn’t happen. My boss finally asked when they were coming in, they said they were on their way. An hour and half later, they didn’t show up. Boss texted her saying it was ridiculous. Then they said they had car…
I work a job where I am assigned high value tracked equipment. I also work offsite from our main office. Supervisors are wanting me to stop at the primary work location on my way to my work site for inventory. Most other employees in my position don't seem to mind but I'm a little miffed. They are arguing with me that it doesn't break the law and I say its in violation of labor law to require me do do this off the clock. So when I argue again, what specific law prohibits this?
I don’t think I ever felt so empowered !
I was working at a nonprofit, it was great, but my supervisor got fired by the program manager. It didn’t take long for me to realize how little she cares about the clients and how under appreciated I am and how much my work ethic and actually caring is getting me exploited. I just got a surprise check in the mail and well a past employee is a director at a program that I just interviewed at today. I’m definitely putting in my 2 weeks and never felt more empowered in my life. NEVER STAY WHERE YOURE NOT APPRECIATED. it can be hard due to finances and job security .. but right when I was ready to leave I heard from a past employee who moved up to a program director who needed help.
Reddit has been very helpful with me for all the questions and answers I wanted to get so far. I’m new here on reddit. If today is the last day of work, and my insurance is also terminated today and we are waiting for severance package to submit and employer offers to pay their portions of cobra premiums for next two months as stated on severance package. So my question is, we won’t have health insurance until we enroll in cobra until employer approves the severance package or we are still Covered by health insurance such as cobra or Our old insurance since we were under group health plans. I’m kind of panicking thinking we won’t have health insurance for a couple days.
