Need advice ASAP – Do I quit today or a month from now?

I work as a custom Jewelry Designer for a local jeweler. My responsibilities include coming up with concepts for clients via sketches, 3D modeling the jewelry on the computer, 3D printing the jewelry in “wax” resin, and operating the casting machines. I’ve worked here four months and have produced around 80 finished pieces and have done very well. The business is extremely understaffed and management has asked that I take on new responsibilities, including project management, graphic design, and marketing. Well, they didn’t ask, but merely said I was supposed to. I said yes but I needed a raise if I was suddenly going to take on all this extra work. They said they would consider it and get back to me. They never did and it’s been two weeks. Two weeks before Black Friday they told me that I will be needed on the sales floor. I’ve never done…

Am I an anti worker, egoistical or a parasite?

So I tried working a few years back but my mental health made it difficult. My country gives decent welfare if you struggle for some time, however it lasted longer than I expected to get my mental health sorted out, so I got welfare for life, literally til the end of my days. Now I did'nt live a luxurious life nor earned that much in my previous job compared to welfare I'm getting right now. What is interesting or sad, is that unless I work over 80% my income will only be increased by a tiny bit. Now my mental health is better and could probably work full time but for the sake of an argument, I choose not too. I can still have all the life necessities met every month and have leftovers incase of emergencies even though health care is free here and honestly I enjoy just living…

Make time slow down please!

I got a new job in October. I like it, 9-5 mon- fri boss is flexible with appointments, there are complaints I have about him but I can stay here fine. The problem is, time is just slipping away behind me. I blink & the week has gone by. I feel like I'm just rushing towards the end if my life. I've had 9-5 jobs & they didn't make time go this fast. Between this & parental responsibilities if I want to take any time for myself, the housecleaning suffers. I just want time to slow down! I want to be able to get stuff done, actually enjoy my time off but I can't.

Still screwing with my old manager after 8 years

Like many of you I had a really bad boss. Psychologically abusive, over worked you, made people cry and overall was an asshole. It’s been over 8 years since I left, but every time my old manager gets a new job I find out who is on his team and send them all an email letting them know how shitty of a person he is. Sometimes I will email VPs or higher ups as well letting them know what a mistake they made hiring him. Luckily he’s only worked for large companies and has “managed” a lot of people. I was off his radar when he “managed” me since I always showed up on time, smiled and tried to do my work the best I could. Anyway, I figured this might inspire others to keep a low profile while at work.

Should I try making a formal complaint of my firing or let it go?

Hi everyone, I (25F) was a seasonal employee as a barista within a department store. My expected tenure was to last 90 days and truly, I was elated working there. Although it is just retail, due to having cities because stalking issues, this was my first time being employed again; note i’ve been a barista before. The employees were for the most part nice and starting to warm up my first month in, and my boss quickly favored me. All but three people, namely the eldest two workers, strongly despised me. It was noticeable enough where other workers picked up on it, over heard them mocking the way I speak. For reference, I tend to be quite peppy and also have a Spanish accent, which hurt and felt a bit racially charged. Additionally, one was supposed to train me and refused to, never introducing herself to me so much that…

Workplaces that don’t allow employees to have drinks on the floor are cruel

Putting genuine safety concerns aside… I'm talking mostly about retail spaces that won't let employees have coffee, water bottles etc… on the sales floor. Theie only argument seems to be “iT's uNprOfeSsiOnaL”

Boss Avoiding Employment-Related Discussion

If your boss is evaluating you on performance, why would they be annoyed when you mention the evaluation or ignore when you express concerns about losing your job? Why don't they want you to know where you stand/refuse to tell you what's going to happen? Is it so they can fire you before you quit?
