Left my job after 2 years, the Feds raided the office the next day. Thanks for looking out, universe!

So….. I worked for a for-profit Behavioral Health company (addiction medicine and mental health) in the state of New Mexico for 2 years, slowly working up the ranks of this 50 employee company that just opened in 2022. Background: It was abusive and a lot of harassment was happening there amongst staff; not to mention clients were mistreated and lied to regarding their treatment. Clients who had commercial insurance would get treated like kings and queens and they would get to reside in the 3 story 4 acre mansion, whilst the medicaid patients would get crammed into a one story with less amenities. This is typical of the Behavioral Health community sadly, but this company took it to the extreme. Management (who didn't even work on site) would make clinical decisions about the clients' well-being without any clinical licensure, ignoring actual clinical staff who looked over and tremendously cared for…

Question about unfair treatment

So basically i worked at my previous job for about four months and was not put on the books once. Boss said he would for the longest time but was sending me checks late through venmo every week. Tax deducted aswell. Mind you this is a construction job with a telecommunications company. Never got my social or ID, im curious how this is even allowed? Now I have no record of me ever working there. Can someone please help me out with this situation, its been a week since i left and I still haven’t gotten my last two checks. Everyone gets paid on friday yet im the exception, sometimes waiting till monday or later.

How come no jobs pay over 130-150k, but the rich make millions?

I've looked up every single position I can imagine on indeed and no matter how fancy sounding, none seem to pay more than 130. Is this an indeed thing or reality? They pay you 60k nowadays for whatever terrible blue collar job, yet even with 10 years experience and a diploma in whatever you're barely above twice that. Puts it into perspective thinking about how the millionaires around me make 10,50,100 times less than other millionaires they look up to, yet for normal people the difference in income is like 1.1-2.0x You can feel very poor talking to someone who makes 80k if you make 60k, that's literally a 33%< difference. I genuinely doubt you'll feel a big difference between making 1,000,000 per year or making 1,333,000 peryear. I mean shit, if you make 30k a bump up to 35k can make you feel like it's solved a lot of…

I deleted all my language skills from LinkedIn! Avoiding exploitation?

May some other bilingual people who are bilingual by formal education can relate. I have never been compensated for being bilingual. I’ve always made the same amount of money as someone that I’m helping to complete their job tasks by translating for them. Because of this I’ve decide to not promote that skill set; neither on my resume or social media. People always talk about how being bilingual is advantageous for your career but I’ve only found it to be another avenue of being exploited for your talent. So from now on I won’t mention my language skills unless an employer explicitly expressed (preferably in writing) that I will be compensated for it. My education wasn’t for free so my skill sets that I gained from that education cannot be offered for free. Plain and simple.

Modern work is incredibly energy-sapping

I cancelled work for a day to circumstances outside of my control. It actually ended up being a pretty busy day but then in the evening I was like…how do I still have so much energy? It turns out work was way more of an energy drain than I realised. I legit wasn't used to the feeling of just having energy, all day. I think this really sneaks up on you – it's not just the hours of work, too, it's also the act of thinking about work and stressing out. We are running on a half-empty tank all the time. I wrote about it here: https://edwardsays.substack.com/p/the-life-changing-magic-of-not-working

Is it normal to be suicidal as an adult?

Recently started my first real 9 to 5 Adult Job and I honestly already lost all my lifegoals, now I just wanna die. I started to romanticize death so much, all I can think about is death, how great it would be to never work again, never have to Wake up again, how it could be done, how could it go wrong, thats basicly all I can think about. If Im standing at some great height I have an urge to just jump Is that normal for an adult?

I saw something at the company holiday party that may have compromised me

This year my company had a party kind of early because we have a lot of remote workers and we're international, so a lot of people actually flew in for the party. It started kind of normal, and everyone was having a good time. I mean people were for sure a bit drunk but nothing too crazy had happened. I wanted to head out kind of early, as I didn't want to be hungover at work today. I left my bags in a kind of remote part of the office. As I walked into the dark desk space, I heard a noise right away. I looked over and in the corner was definitely my boss, and an intern from another department hooking up (early stages it seemed like but was hard to tell in the dark). I was obviously shocked as my boss doesn't have a history of being a…

Workplace- head injury

I work at a food distribution facility. Pallets were stacked up on their sides (vertical) and strapped to the wall of the trailer.. i've been told that they were not supposed to be this way as it's a potential hazzard. I have notified my boss several times about it, he said there was going to be a meeting about it. Meeting happens, I wasn't told the outcome other than it was brought up. I hopped that they would stop being stacked that way.. that didn't happen. Stopped notifying my boss as nothing seemed was going to be done about it. That was about 2 months ago Then today one fell off as my body was turned since I was stacking them. At the time of the pallet falling, the stack I had made was small (maybe 3 pallets.) A pallet fell and hit the right side of my head. Fell…
