Hi everyone. Before taking on the role I had agreed to stay on till the end of June 2024. However now, I am finding it incredibly difficult to continue working. I tried to resign from my job back in October but my manager was not ready to accept my resignation. He insisted that I stay on till the end of June and even asked me to reply to my resignation email with another email saying that I'll stay till the end of June – which I extremely stupidly did. If I were to resign sometime in December, can this email be used against me? Also for context, where I'm from, the standard notice period is two months. So if I were to resign in December I would be relieved from my current role in February of 2024. Thanks for all your help.

I was promoted to manager with little training and now the c-suite is passing down really reactive orders to me about people on my team who have made a few mistakes. Rather than train and correct they want them fired. Then they place these crazy expectations in me to be everywhere at once and sit on the meetings. They want me to aasest them and they report back with my findings which feels like why don’t trust me to make assments. I feel so deferred I can’t even enjoy my thanksgiving. I’m so over reactive c-suite vs people willing to help. So I then tend to be reactive to my team tossing info at them giving them rough feedback and now I’m turning into a manager I used to hate.
I've been working in healthcare, acute care for 37 years. In that time, I've worked plenty of holidays. The only perk we had was a free meal that day. Seriously, where I work, we didn't even get time and a half until THIS year! So, maybe that's why they cut the free meal? I don't know. But I'm sitting here at work and went to the cafeteria and they have just prepackaged self-serve stuff. I have hard boiled eggs. That's my lunch. For Thanksgiving. Thankfully, for me, at least, my daughter will be passing by the hospital soon and is picking me up some chicken strips from Kwik Trip, and will drop them off. (and for my coworker)
We had a team meeting at work the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at my place of employment. (US based company). The boss went around asking everyone what they were thankful for. Everyone else mentioned employment as the first thing. I mentioned my family and our health. Didn’t mention being employed (even though I’m very thankful for that). Someone asked why I didn’t mention being employed and I mentioned that jobs come and go while my family has been constant and as I get older, my health becomes more important. Quite the argument ensued with how I should value employment more and express my gratitude for being employed more. After the meeting, I received a couple emails from some in attendance that I committed “career suicide” by not mentioning how thankful I am to be employed by the company. I’ll accept the risk. Ridiculous. Just thought I’d share. Best wishes to all.
Should I use sick days to travel?
Considering claiming I have Covid in January to take a few days off and see some friends, explore the city they live in (never been there before). My company is pretty lenient and chill, and I don't think they'd ask for proof or anything. But do you guys think this is worth it? I can take PTO if I want (though would rather not waste it) and I don't want to get in hot water at my company if I can avoid it.
Not my meme, but fits here well

My work’s communication sucks
So I first started working as a Busser for this golf restaurant about 2 months ago. When I first met with HR she told me I needed to download these 2 apps. But on my first day I was told by my boss that we don’t use those apps. The apps had been used for seeing the schedule, requesting time off, ect. So now the only time I know my schedule is when I go in on Thursdays (which I usually work). But the last 2 Thursdays I went in I wasn’t on the schedule at all. But I stayed and worked my regular shift. Fast forward to today (thanksgiving) I wasn’t sure if I was working. So I messaged my boss at 8:30 and called my work to check. The girl who answered told me we have this new app NOONE told me about!! Then she told me I…
