My boyfriend and i live together and he came down with covid from his workplace (janitor at hospital) a few days ago. As i expected, i started to feel not too hot myself just a few hours ago so i took an at home covid test…. it came out positive. I called my boss to notify him and he said he doesn’t believe me as it’s the day before thanksgiving (which he is aware i don’t even celebrate, the reason i was scheduled in the first place on that holiday.) And told me to just wear my mask and come in. (I work at a gas station and am often the only one there, which will be the case tomorrow night.) I am located in Virginia, USA & have worked as a corporate call-center pawn for over a decade. I'm tired of it. I have a good plan, but my main question is: Am I legally entitled to my accrued Sick Time? I have over 300 hours & feel like I should be able to receive it as a payout or find a way to use it. I already have a request in for FML approval on an existing issue, but am still waiting on the process. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, first time posting here. I was recently let go from a job, because the company I worked for found someone who is willing to do my role and another. Being that, it was no fault of my own, I want to file unemployment. This company did not show up on the history. I’d be able to add their information and link my account with them, but it requires an EIN that I’m unaware of and don’t have access to. I reached out to the company about this number, and they said it would be included in my W-2, and a W-4 at the end of the year. I know EIN numbers can be confidential. I cannot file for unemployment without the EIN number. My head is barely above water. What can I do, y’all?

We have been Brainwashed to believe inflation is something that doesn’t happen. It happens consistently. People were buying less during Covid and now buying more. As well as supply chains being interrupted. For all whining about the inflation remember out of top 30 global economy we have suffered lowest inflation. I know it suck. It’s harder on the middle and lower class. Don’t think this unique to your town or your shopping center only. The whole world has inflation some countries rapid rapid rapid inflation. I like this sub, but sometimes to disregard/ignorance for major economic influences are hard for me to get passed. Also, look what happens when tax rich. They move out of country. I was in the ER half the night. I'm exhausted. But I have to work cuz I can't afford not to get paid for Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Oh well.

I have applied to over 100+ internships and haven't received no interviews and responses. Is it my resume or my work experience ? The bp job wasn't an internship it was more of an externship, just knowledge of about the company. I didn't put my contact info because I didn't want to put my number on here. I filed wage claim in Texas for minimum wage noncompliance, illegal paycheck deductions, and wage theft. State wage and hour dismissed my claim for “it is preceded by a valid arbitration agreement”. The arbitration agreements are the norm in onboarding paperwork. If you don’t sign you’re not hired, I’m very surprised my state is allowing corporations to be shielded from accountability for legit labor crimes by these agreements. The federal DOL will not allow those agreements to apply to illegal conduct but Texas does. Here’s an extra layer of absurd. Up to that point I was working full time and had also been receiving partial layoff UI benefits for a few months based on earnings reduced through no fault of my own. (Production based payplan) unemployment benefits for the aforementioned week was denied because “you worked full time” because I hit exactly 40 hours rather than 39 or less. Therefore…

I work for a restaurant and between a poorly performing kitchen and the slow shoulder season my hours have been reduced from 5 days a week down to 2 or 3 per week. All of the other staff have experienced this as well. Nobody is being targetted specifically, but we clearly have too much staff. When my boss let a server go he complained that she sought unemployment, so clearly they're just trying to “starve people out”. Can I claim unemployment and recover some money for lost hours? I'd just go find a second job but I don't have reliable transportation and was trying to use this job to save up and buy a car so I could commute to a second job.

Contract wfh since July, just 2 weeks ago they said it would be until end of December. Bamn, I see an email from my boss this morning to my personal email b4 I logged in. I knew I was getting let go bc I assumed if she’s emailing me at my personal email My access to my laptop or email was removed. Fortunately I use mouse jiggler so my laptop wasn’t locked.
