So I started a new job at a restaurant. I’m a minor and in my state it’s illegal for me to work more than 4 hours without a break. I explained this to my manager she said it wasn’t true and I just left it at that . I don’t know who right. Also she did say that all of us would be getting cash tips distributed between us. I have been there for 4 days and haven’t touched any cash. Is this normal?
ik this sub is about anti work, but honestly i just need work. i am so jealous of the people who have wealthy parents that can fund their lifestyle, or people who can find high paying jobs. I wish i didn’t have to worry about money so much, and i can live stress free. my lack of money has been affecting my mental health so much, and making it hard to focus on school and other tasks. just a little vent.
I was honestly shocked not to see any posts about the strike in this sub. Regardless of where your politics lie, these politcians are shoving money into war in a world where most of us can barely afford to live. Regardless of how you feel about a ceasefire, we could start working towards change. Hit them in the pockets where it hurts.

My workplace is going to start making us wear ties. That was stupid, shitty, clip on ties. I hate having to type things around my neck. Where and how can I get a doctors note excusing me not to wear a tie?
Yep, as per the title. Backstory, I got hired 6 months ago, hours were 8 to 4, and we clock on and off. 2 weeks ago I'm pulled into a “chat” with my boss. Apparently payroll reckon im not doing enough hours. I told them I do 8 to 4, ” oh no, it's 7.54 to 4.06, 7.6hrs, 30 min lunch” I queried why they said 8 to 4 and was told ,” this is 8 to 4″… Anyone care to show me how they are right?

A strike is a war of attrition. Employees collectively refuse to work in order to hinder or halt the productivity of the company. Whoever runs out of resources first capitulates; in a successful strike, a company will negotiate terms that are more favorable for the employees because it is cheaper than the lost revenue of holding out. What if the same war of attrition is initiated by the opposing side? Companies refuse to hire, simultaneously causing financial insecurity to those unemployed (lest anyone mention the low unemployment rate, I consider the 44% of workers who do not make a living wage to be a part of this group) while also resulting in a loss of productivity for the company. As with a normal strike, the intent is to outlast the other side until they capitulate to the demands of the other side. In this case, we see the same job…
