Last week I posted about a certification program my company offers their employees and I was going to have a meeting with 2 supervisors. Back story, I asked if I could do it and was told no, I pushed back about the “requirements” they were enforcing which did not align with the information the I had access to. Basically it read that it was available for all employees regardless of their current or future roles, however, they denied me at first bc it was not aligned to my career path. So it happened and they agreed to let me in the program! Mind you this was after they told me no!!! Super happy for the win though!

Don't normally lose my temper but this lady called me up for first time and goes straight into “there's a problem, you have employment gaps” in a rude voice. I was so in disbelief that she was even bringing that up, 20 seconds into a conversation with somebody. Like if its that big of an issue, don't call me. I lost my temper and said “you know what, nevermind, I don't want the job. Its rude to talk about employment gaps as in such a negative way. I said don't call again [B-word].”
Disrespectful Employers.
I’ve been job hunting since September. First potential job was a phone call; went great! He told me to come into the company for a second one. I do so… front desk worker tells me he’s not there, she calls him… he tells her to tell me to call him. I do. He says he doesn’t remember the second interview, but he apologizes and to come back to the store in a hour. I do. Second interview goes well! I’m hired and he says he’ll send me my offer letter and my background check information. I wait for 48 hours… no nothing. After three days, I text him (seeing as he responds to text.) Left on delivered. Okay. Ghosted. Whatever. Next one, this Monday I go in for a in-person interview. She tells me I’m hired and that she’ll give me my offer letter in my email and to come…
Why is everyone so fucking nasty?
I’m a lawyer and I just can’t take how bitchy everyone can be. Everyone is such a tough guy over email. I get “feedback” from other attorneys which is really just passive aggressiveness. I have to “take it on the chin” from supervisors with authority complexes. It’s just maddening that everyone chooses to spend so much time being frustrated, nasty, and power hungry. Ugh.
Kinda strange this speech was delivered at the annual conference on Capital Markets in Real Estate. And NYS wonders why they're having difficulty recruiting young professionals to work

This is a PSA but also a rant, I guess. Tl;dr: In states that exclude the most recent quarter from unemployment qualification, you could work up to 9 months and still be DQ'd from unemployment because you don't meet the timing criteria. After an initial hire in 2019, I moved jobs in April 2023. This means I quit my former job voluntarily to move to the new job. I got laid off from the new job in November 2023. Downsize. Lol. For anyone who hasn't dealt with unemployment, a short informational: In order to qualify, you have to make a certain amount of money in a certain time. This time is looked at by quarter periods (predetermined 3 month increments). My state requires you to work in 2 qualifying quarters. The current, unfinished quarter does not count as part of the qualification basis. My state ALSO excludes the most recent…
Dear [candidate name]
I forwarded this one to my wife for kicks lol
Rant about foodservice
It's sad when you work for a multimillion dollar franchise and they won't even give you an employee discount on your food or give you a lunch break!
