Term code

The inevitable is going to happen. FT RTO. I assume that my time is going to be up soon as I have moved across the country from my office. Worst case scenario end of the year, best case? I’m not sure what best case is, but the rumors are it would be a 30 day notice from 1/1/24. Is there a term code that would leave me eligible for unemployment? Or does this seem like a pretty obvious, you broke the rules kinda, bye situation? For the record, I don’t want to scam the government on UNE, but I am a single parent with a toddler so I’m trying to gauge my immediate level of panic while I scan the “classifieds” during the holidays.

Why don’t employers value good employees?

As the title states, it happens so often that a good employee (like glue that holds the company together) leaves as they feel undervalued, overworked and disrespected, why don't employers value their good employees and show it, even a thanks, a gift now and then for all the hardwork and overtime, giving decent raises (instead of the employee having to always request on) or bonuses? Is it just greed?

I got let go for calling my manager a moron

I had a pipe burst in my house today, the second bathroom had raw sewage; I emailed my boss since I didn't have any way of communicating. I also called the store when it opened only to hear “hello, why are you calling?”. I explained the situation and immediately got told “unacceptable” and he hung up. Like a good worker I emailed that I spot to someone. I show up for my evening shift( they do 12 hours “with a break in between”…it's slave labor for minimum wage). They immediately proceed to want to talk, they start yelling at my performance as well as talking about the schedule like sir, I don't have a way to communicate with anyone only through email. He proceeded to ask “is that professional?” And I retorted “is hanging up on people as the manager?”. Long story short I am headed home to hangout with…

Terminated after walkout

Well ladies and gentlemen it happened. Myself along with six other employees finally reached a boiling point and confronted our manager about the low pay, hour cuts, temporary shutdowns without warning (but only for our department) amongst other issue. It was a shitshow and things got heated. Nobody got physical, but there was alot of screaming from both the workers and manager. Could it have been handled better? Yes. However, as I've always said, you can only push someone so far before they snap. We decided to all walk out since our manager refused to call H.R. and refused to sit down in a meeting with us to resolve things. Each of us just received a call from the director of H.R. who told us, and I quote, “it's my job to fire people” then proceeded to terminate us. Does it suck that this is happening at a shitty time…
