I've been in the workforce for more than 20 years. In that time I've been laid off 8 times as part of group layoffs. How am I supposed to get ahead when I'm always having to start over? I'm so angry and bitter about this work environment. I'm sick of people acting like anyone poor just isn't working hard enough when over and over I've paid the price for the decisions made by people way over my pay grade.

I am an admin at an accounting firm. They call the accountants 'professionals' and I am just and admin. Like.. 'In our group, we have 1 admin and 6 professionals'. Sounds like they are thinking less of us and they are more special?
It seems like not many people understand as someone with ADHD and pretty severe executive dysfunction I legitimately try my absolute best but cannot hold a job and have ended up homeless multiple times because of this it's absolutely unbearable. And if you don't have your leg blown off or something that is clearly visible good luck getting disability benefits it seems like society just says fuck you to neruodivergent people why do we deserve to struggle for something we have absolutely no control over? It's not like we asked to be neruodivergent. Why is it when people talk about these issues others just say “just work” and if you dare try to ask for help people will judge the fuck out of you. Just because something is simple for you doesn't mean that it is simple for everyone.

They already did us dirty with a $1 raise this year and we're understaffed(I'm already working 6 days a week)because my manager says he's not hiring until February…I use my tips to tip other ppl and buy my coworker's tamales/empanadas:)

After working my booty off for 7 years, I was finally told I was eligible for the promotion I have been asking about and doing stretch roles for. People started scheduling meetings with me about the transition and I thought I finally was going to have everything figured out with my career. Then Thursday happened. At 7:30pm Thursday, I got an email saying they were closing my company and laying off everyone. This came with no warning, as the C-suite hasn't communicated with us for months. I feel so lied to and betrayed but that's corporate America for you. Now I'm filing for unemployment, cobra, and whatever I possibly can so my daughter, boyfriend, and I don't end up becoming homeless. Wish me luck on my job search!
