What would you choose?

I am at a place where I can choose one of two different lives. One involves being work-free. What would you choose? Option 1: Stay at a high paying job in London that covers rent in a cute west-central London studio (no flatmates), living expenses and leaves something each month for shopping, travel and saving. Cons: long distance from boyfriend, corporate life, 9-5 schedule, answering to the boss, only weekends free to do hobbies, starting to feel burn out already Option 2: Come back to home country, live with boyfriend in flat that was gifted by parents (no rent!), own car, some passive income to cover living expenses and travel. Lots of time to pursue passions and start my own business. Cons: no „real” career, looks bad on cv and during family events („so what do you do?”), a bit less money

They had to close my shop because of health code and are not paying employees

So. Have to be a little vague here but they had to close our store (food industry) because there is a maintenance issue causing employees to feel ill at work. They closed the store before our alloted shift time was supposed to end and sent us home because of how big the issue is. But they keep saying to the evening staff that that “does not necessarily mean we will closed tonight” But the last few days this issue has persisted with this same circle of events. The evening staff hasn't been getting paid because each day they have to close the store at some point during the day. and the employees are told they aren't going to be paid for the shifts they cut short or the evening ones they had to cancel last minute. Manager said “Everyone who didn't clock in is not getting paid for today” after…

Starting a union is now easier

NLRB just made it harder for companies to union bust and basically forces companies to the table to negotiate with the workers wanting a union. https://x.com/NLRBGC/status/1732777468338077929?s=20

My Christmas bonus was a $100 bill and that’s it

I've kept each and every one of my pay stubs, which list how much money I've made for my company since being hired (over $18k).

I’ve been working legally for 10 years. Still make minimum wage

Started working at 2$ over minimum wage in 2012 and 9$ an hour. Now After 10 years I make 17$ an hour. Still 2$ over minimum wage. If I didn’t run side hustles I’d be done for. My sibling makes 15k a day while sitting on the couch making silly videos. Ready to die lol

Antiwork Post Checklist guide:

Hey gang! Based on the majority of posts recently, I thought it useful to create a handy guide when next ranting about a minor inconvenience at work. Post checklist (in order): I am a very high performer CHECK My boss is a fucking idiot CHECK I have been thrown into a very negative situation which in no way reflects my recent performance, attitude or status within the company CHECK Someone did a thing in the meeting and I come out the good guy and my boss looks like a dick CHECK My boss's boss made my boss look stupid without me having to do anything CHECK I continue to work at the company which clearly thinks nothing of me CHECK If your next post follows these points, in order, then you have a really original and credible work story to share with the world. Let's keep this community interesting, insightful…

Not sure if this should go in r/antiwork or r/legaladvice but i need help

I work a part time job at a trampoline park in FL. I’m 15 years old. They consistently have me working “glow night” shifts where I work a minimum of 4 hours until 12am, and occasionally up to 7 hours in one shift. They’ve denied my availability hours, saying this is a “weekend-based job” even though I’ve said I can work any day but Sunday for religious reasons, and glow night shifts because I don’t have a ride home and can’t drive. They continue to only put me on shifts for glow night and sundays. Here’s the kicker. I have a family vacation planned, they’ve known for months because I told them I wouldn’t be available until Friday night and would even be willing to work their glow night hours and on sunday to make up for it. And they scheduled me for the weekdays that i’ll be out of…

Why wage Suppression and Rent Hikes Are Intentional

Imagine, if you will, an economy that leverages wage suppression and rent hikes to uproot the middle class, in order to repurpose their homes for higher-income individuals, all in a concerted effort to salvage the desperate post-COVID real estate industry.

Threaten people? Doesn’t matter, she’s pregnant!

I hardly ever post on Reddit so please forgive me any formatting issues. I currently live in Ontario, Canada and work at a large retail chain. I’m going to try and make this as vague as I can because I am somewhat worried about retaliation from my employer. I have worked at this store for 4 years, climbed the ranks and am now a cash manager. For reference I am a female in her late 20’s, married with one toddler. Last year we hired a new girl, let’s call her Violet. Violet was around 19/20, seemed super sweet and was amazing at her job. She was with us maybe almost 6 months before she announced she was pregnant. We were all really excited for her, we threw her a party and sent gifts, kept in touch while she was on MAT leave, etc. Around 4-5 months into her MAT leave,…
