Can’t imagine how it could cost over $1000 for a single key. I cant even access the building so there’s no real security issue. This has not been a problem in the past. I returned all other items on my offical last day.

Manager told me she can’t see potential
I have worked in my current role for just shy of 3 years and with this same department manager throughout that time. In our latest 1:1 earlier this week she told me I don't share (we were discussing personal and work life), she feels she has to insert herself into my work and that I keep myself and my work to myself. She was discussing some bullshit model (Johari window) in the context of said sharing (or In her opinion , lack thereof) and said that my “Johari window was very small” because I don't share and so she can't see my potential because she can't understand. All of this was very out of the blue, and so I gathered my thoughts and own evidence and asked to speak with her again this morning (she cut that from 1hr to 0.5hr because she had too much admin to do but…
I work at a large Canadian chain of weed stores that are named after a key component in cannabis. Recently my hours have been cut because I have been booking days off for other obligations outside of work. When I asked why my hours have been cut I am told “hours aren't guaranteed” and “people keep booking time off on the weekends and I need people here on the weekends”. To be clear my availability is any time all day every day. I'm not a new employee and my availability isn't restricted at all. My last check was $300. I have no hours for this current pay period and I will not be getting paid next payday unless someone gets me to take their shift. I have emailed HR. I live in Manitoba where there are no constructive dismissal laws. This isn't really asking for advice, more of a rant…

Underpaid and burnt out

I've seen this alot. Just today, a guy was arguing with his colleague asking how much of product A he's managed to sell today. Another example was, I was working minimum wage. Me and a few coworkers working in the same group, discussed making a WhatsApp group chat. Sounds great right? and we can talk in private. This girl that proposed then goes to the head manager and asks if we can make a WhatsApp group chat obviously it was a no, so we can continue being monitored on teams or in person… What's your stories?
Quitting my job soon and trying to figure out if I should call out “sick” or if I can get paid for my sick time. I have accrued 25 hours of sick, separate from my PTO which will be paid out. I would rather get paid for it if I can. Thanks for your time.

I got laid off recently so I’ve been working for a hospitality agency as a stop-gap. The pay is pretty terrible and they require you to do unpaid training and buy your own uniforms etc. Not great (especially with my financial situation) but they’re an agency so I know they can get away with it and I know it is what it is. My real issue is that they require you to be 15 minutes early to every shift. The hotels I work in are pretty huge so it does normally take that long to find where you’re supposed to be working, collect any extra uniform (waistcoats etc) that they need you to wear. Is it legal to not pay us for this time?
