Boss puts employee desk on top of roof as punishment – Antioch, CA

A maintenance supervisor (Ken Turnage II) put his employee's desk on top of the roof in retaliation for reporting him. He had employees use a forklift to put the desk on top of roof to humiliate him. No serious consequences as of yet as he's golfing/BBQ buddies with the Superintendent's hubby. Fun fact, Turnage had previously been let go during Covid for remarks he made about letting the weak and older folks die. He's a real class act!!!! There are several complaints against him for bullying employees. Superindendent was questioned by the media at school board meeting and was dead silent: https://www.nbcbayarea.com/investigation/antioch-supervisor-bullying-employees/3513034/ https://www.nbcbayarea.com/investigations/antioch-unified-board-president-supervisor-bullying-complaints/3514713/

I came back after 3 months of medical leave to a shit show

So I had a full on menti b a few months ago and I had the option of taking voluntary leave from work or getting sent to grippy sock vacation so I took FMLA/short term disability. It was slow at first, but eventually I made a lot of progress. I returned once I had used all of my FMLA. I’ve been back for two days. Apparently work conditions have deteriorated as customers are consistently calling in and harassing us because the company refuses to provide solutions and we have no real escalation avenues. They’re just using us as a shield. This morning, during a meeting, the team was berated for not being polite enough with customers and having a negative attitude in the office and upper management was upset to hear all of the complaining about conditions. On top of that, we were threatened with mandatory overtime all next week…

Unpaid intern facing overwhelming workload

I'm currently doing an unpaid internship where I'm struggling with the workload. I've been assigned tasks meant for two interns because my counterpart was relocated to another department. Additionally, I've been given extra tasks by a senior colleague. This has left me with no time for self-study or rest, and I'm the last one to leave the office every day around 4 PM. I followed the advice given during orientation and reported the issue to my supervisor, as it was affecting my ability to prepare for my post-graduation exam. However, now I'm facing backlash from my senior colleagues. They're saying I should have discussed it with them first before reporting it. I understand their perspective, but the workload was becoming unbearable, and I felt it was necessary to address it formally. UPDATE everything is good for me now Exide for the fact that every JR1 is afraid of me and…

Just walked out this restaurant job after making my injury worse and none of my friendly coworkers cared.

Yup just walked out from the restaurant of a country club that I have been working for like year. I was switched to a runner position and kept bringing heavy plates on a big tray. Servers wouldn't do anything, just take orders, constant mistakes and disappear. I received so much verbal abuse by members because of their mistakes. They did hire a new runner guy to help. Instead he said he couldn't carry a big tray and could take 2-3 plates at once. He did that at the beginning but since Chef and Sous Chef didn't care much to expo, the new runner tried to act like an expo/boss to avoid having to carry plates. I got into an accident outside of work and I injured two of my fingers where I carry that tray. It's definitely a fracture, all swollen. I was waiting to see if it's gonna heal…

Poured my blood, sweat and tears into my new job and discovered they posted my job position online yesterday.

I’ve been working for my employer for the last five months and was never given a job description even after asking multiple times. I was given a pretty good base salary, and was told I’d have additional monthly bonus structures as well… which never happened. I was told my role would be hybrid/field, but with constant turnovers, short staffing, zero structure – my employer constantly relied on me to hold down the fort. I worked over 60+ hours a week, covering multiple people’s roles, taking on extra work, getting sick every month for about two weeks each month and still coming in to work with a fever and a mask. I went from having a work-life balance, eating 3 meals a day and coming home on time – to eating only dinner because the amount of work I was expected to complete did not give me time to take a…

Advice on officially leaving a job

hi! I'm looking for a bit of reassurance about my situation at work if anyone has any thoughts (sorry it’s a bit long) I started working in a technical position in a relatively small nonprofit about three years ago (a role that requires regular overtime work). After a year and a half they posted a job posting for a position directly above me, which I applied for even though I knew they wanted someone external (since they posted the job and didn't talk with me about it). I officially didn't get the job because I didn't have 'management experience', but I also bombed the final interview due to the build-up / anxiety I had around the whole thing (which I feel just helped their case). The person they hired as my manager is chill / a good people person, but not the most organized or competent tech-wise. I had to…

Does anyone else “work hard” because of anxiety?

People say I'm a hard worker, and I am. This is not because I'm some of go getter company man, but because I have social anxiety. I'm always afraid of getting reprimanded or fired, so I work my ass off in hopes of not having a supervisor on my ass, which obviously, that doesn't work. I can't even be idle, because I worry that if they catch me standing around, they might get on to me. So far l, haven't gotten in trouble, and where I work is pretty laid back, hell if anything, I mostly get praise, but even then, I still get nervous. Is anyone else like this?

I just left my 3-year job, and I feel like I did absolutely nothing for 3 years.

I know that isn’t true, but it certainly feels like it. If an author works on a book for 3 years, that book will (hopefully) live forever, they’ll gain fans and make friends with other artists, they’ll be able to proudly tell people that they’re an author, they’ll gain new skills and insights and such. Me, on the other hand? I did reports for a company for 3 years. Reports about numbers I had nothing to do with. Those reports are with the company, too, so if someone asked me what I did for 3 years, I would have nothing to show them. I made no true friends, just work ones. None of them wanted to be there, they just wanted to get work done, get paid, and go back home. None of them are going to keep in touch with me, probably, and I don’t blame them. And the…
