Was rejected today after 5 interviews
I just don't get how you can interview for a role a half dozen times, the interviewer sings your praises the whole time, but they're still not sureeeee so they need anotherrrrr interview and then by the end it's tee hee we changed our minds. This was a super niche role that I have years of experience doing. They even told me they hadn't found any other comparable candidates. And then I'm rejected anyway. At least I still have a job. But wow am I demotivated now.
I have no data to support this lol. I am purely basing this off of anecdotal evidence of 1) seemingly more outrage at an upper class victim of crime than a lower class (crime against the lower class is considered normal vs. unheard of against the upper class), 2) reverence and normalization of the wealthy in reality TV and movies (see KUWTK, Rich Housewives, the latest Sydney Sweeney rom com), 3) people who will never have 1/100 net worth of these people defending ultra high net worth individuals because they earned it or whatever bs reason (and these people think it’s possible they’ll get there)

Quitting the care sector
I'm planning on quitting my part time care job after just 4 weeks. I worked in a care home for 4 years before I fell pregnant and developed a disability of my own. 5 years later and with the support of a partner at home I thought I would try my hand at part time work. There was a domiciliary care job just yards from the house. I explained to the client, who is also the employer, that I have my own condition to work around and I would only accept extra hours if I was well. In the last 4 weeks I feel like I have been completely ignored and abused. They slammed me from week one with extra hours and kept changing the rota behind my back, multiple times I was to work extra hours with no notice. I wasn't physically capable of the hours they wanted me…
The myth of Sweden
As someone who has experienced life threatening practices due to sudden changes in politics, I get sad when people claim that “all politicians are the same” or that it doesn’t matter who you vote for. I live in Sweden, a country long known for its successful mixture of capitalism and democratic socialism. Here, every working citizen (still) has a guaranteed health insurance. If you get sick you can still pay your rent instead of being homeless, adding more bills to the community through increased use of free public health care, more emergency calls, police investigations etc. If your pay was any good you can even live relatively comfortably, at least for a year or two, depending on your standards before you got sick. And if your health doesn’t improve, you can go in to early retirement even from a very young age, and live a minimalistic but safe life. As…
Pto vs sick leave
In CA a law was passed that employees get 5 days of sick time. My questions is if you have plenty of PTO to use can a you be fired for using PTO as sick time, if you have used all of your sick time already
Taking two mental health days in a row
Title pretty much sums is up. I’m working a job I hate right now and know I shouldn’t feel bad about taking 2 mental health days in a row but I still feel guilty about it. I’m the lowest ranking member of my team and I hardly do much but menial tasks. Is this just how the job system is meant to make us feel?
What kind of sick demented leadership has no paid holidays between New Years and Memorial Day. (I know government workers and Europeans have 97 paid days off per year but we don’t.)
