Basically what the title says. My girlfriend got a new job starting in May to make ends meet better for herself and her daughter. Yesterday, she gave a very courteous notice to her employers (it’s a small business) that her last day would be 4/26. Today, they sat down with her and told her that they had been running numbers and were needing to ‘reorganize’ anyways, so this works to their advantage to just expedite the process. Assholes who don’t understand how big of a deal each paycheck is when you’re trying to make ends meet. Edit for more context: we live in Utah which is an at-will state

Business Owner’s Son Made My Boss Quit
I just found out that my boss (the general manager) resigned her post today. I literally cried because she's the best manager I've ever had, and I've been through a lot of jobs. Apparently the owner's son started harassing her and being a total jerk. He told her she wasn't mentally all there, and that she wasn't doing enough for her job, among other things. She just lost her husband like two weeks ago. She is grieving, she took time off, of course her mind isn't entirely on work, she lost her husband of 20+ years and is having to restructure her entire life! And the claims that she doesn't do enough… She covered every shift, called us (her workers) when we were out sick just to genuinely check up on us, brought breakfast to those who worked nightshift. Truong My Lan, a Vietnamese real estate tycoon, was sentenced to death by a court in Ho Chi Minh City, in connection with the country's biggest fraud case, according to state media. Lan (67), who was arrested in 2022, is the chair of the real estate company Van Thinh Phat. She is accused of committing fraud worth $12 billion, which is nearly 3 per cent of the country's 2022 GDP, The Associated Press reported, citing Vietnam's Thanh Nien.
