I (23F) am so tired. It took me 4 months to find work and I told the employer I was coming off of a Q3 layoff. I texted & emailed early this morning about my direct deposit not being paid to me and they gave me the run around all day. I was told at 4pm (9am start time) that my role was being terminated. It does not help that my boss is a rich, nepotism baby who is also an actor. I was told all of this last minute and he didn’t even have the decency to call me himself and ask to return the key. Told someone else to call me and say we will charge you for the office key if not returned. I promised my nephew money I don’t have anymore. When/Why did employers (in whatever guise) turn on people and start creating this hoop jumping thats so common now ? its market wide iv seen an add for a fitter/mechanic for heavy plant equip, asking for a 4 day trial period….i mean ?? and on the other side of the fence, industry wise, iv seen tech jobs (shown on this sub) where they expect you do do a 1-2-3 day in house course where you have to basicly fix problems for them for free or solve problems for them under cover of observing your fit etc ? was it so gradual that i missed it ? Having been self emp and before that single industry, or did it happen quickly ? was it the economy ? global event angst for the future ? the virus of no specific origin ? please clue me in folks.

Trickle down economics has been proven false at this point. The exact opposite (let’s call it trickle up) has been shown to actually work these last couple years. When you raise the lowest wages among us, that’s forces every other company/position to adjust. When all the fast food places in my town started paying $15 an hour, that forced all the factories paying $15 an hour to raise to $19. When the factory worker started making $19, then the technicians ( that’s me) demanded to make $25…. So on and so on. From 2010 to 2019 (pre covid) my company made record profits every quarter for almost a decade straight and I never saw any of it trickle down. I’ve gotten my biggest bumps in pay recently because the “unskilled” jobs had to dramatically increase their pay to keep employees, which eventually trickled up to me. It drove me crazy…

Only yesterday I posted a rant about how my crappy job made me extremely depressed. Today I got fired and I'm still processing wtf. I started my interview process in July. The role was marketing manager for few subsidiaries of a multinational company. I would report to every subsidiary and I wasn't supposed to have much to do with the headquarters marketing team (head of marketing, a senior marketing kid and two interns). They had few internal political issues in the company and they weren't shy about it – namely, the head of marketing was a difficult person to deal with, and didn't deliver results. I passed three interviews, including one that involved travelling 500 km with 3 people and that head of marketing – a truly horrible experience, with HOM trying to do anything possible to show my weaknesses. Essentially if they get injured on the job (bad enough to report it at least…) no one across any of their multiple woodworking facilities gets their expected yearly bonus. I've lost count the number of times he has come home hurt. He just deals with the pain and continues working, which is honestly a dangerous distraction at a certain point due to the chaos of their job, or if he needs to stay home, he has to lie about being sick. Or EVERYONE loses their bonuses. How is this legal?

Right after I got out of the bathroom today, he called me into his office and shut his door. He said that the amount of times I use the bathroom a day and the length is getting ridiculous. He claimed that I used the bathroom today for example 4 different times at 20 minutes plus each which is untrue. Now I feel like he’s watching and timing every time I use the bathroom even though his accusations are inaccurate. Usually I have to regularly BM twice a day and sometimes they both are at work. Because of stomach issues I have it can take up to 10-15 minutes each time. I don’t find this unreasonable especially because I finish all of my work.
