I (F) am a supervisor and when I got in today, I checked in with one of my new hires and she was in tears. I asked her if she was ok and she said no, she was sort of struggling with a domestic issue and she tried to explain but just showed me bruises and cuts and injuries all over her body from that morning and she said her neck and ribs/back were hurting. She was so worried about calling in because she’s still on probation and was scared I’d be mad or fire her so she’d just go after work. I’m not sure this is a new trend.
Basically what the title says. My girlfriend got a new job starting in May to make ends meet better for herself and her daughter. Yesterday, she gave a very courteous notice to her employers (it’s a small business) that her last day would be 4/26. Today, they sat down with her and told her that they had been running numbers and were needing to ‘reorganize’ anyways, so this works to their advantage to just expedite the process. Assholes who don’t understand how big of a deal each paycheck is when you’re trying to make ends meet. Edit for more context: we live in Utah which is an at-will state
