This job has been open for so long since my last attempt of trying to find work in education. I wonder why that is lol….
Don’t mess with my dad.
This happened many years ago. My dad, who is Irish, worked on the building sites all over the west of Scotland as did many of his friends. Even though he was highly intelligent it was the only work available at that time for Irishmen. There was a lot of anti Irish racism around that time and most of the Irish just put up with and, as virtually all of them were Catholic, a lot of sectarian shite. One foreman in particular kept calling my dad Paddy, even though he knew his real name. It was always “Paddy get this done, Paddy get that done”. No please or thank you etc. Then there were the derogatory names like “fenian bastards” etc. Most of the Irish guys were scared of losing their jobs so just accepted it. Not my dad. Corporate Culture H*ll
I started a new job. It has been overwhelming since day one but I don't give up easily. I understand the concept of my position but Im new to the role and the processes are very conflicting. When I finally get the data I'm squeezed and expected to work late. It's like everyone gave me their own worst task and truth be told, it was a steep learning curve. I ended up so stressed that my blood pressure sky rocketed and my immunity tanked. As soon as the weekend came and I…
Unveiling Inequities in the System
I worked at a job for 11 months and did really well, never had any complaints, made a lot of money for the company. I accepted the position on a low salary because I was told everyone gets a huge bonus at the end of the fiscal year. Everyone talked about this bonus and it was supposed to be around $40k. The pay check before that one, I got hurt at work and had to go to the hospital but was fine, although it was a worker’s comp claim. The next day, I unexpectedly got let go because “they’re going a different direction.” Nothing I can do about that because VA is an at-will state, I’m just giving context here. To back up some: 3 months into my employment, I took a fully remote job doing marketing (completely unrelated to the field in my first job.) I managed both jobs…
