I have a fun anti work story for all of you. Im gonna keep this super general cause I almost ruined it for the employees while I was there and I don’t want to ruin it for them now that I’ve left. I used to work at an employer that had VERY high production standards. Definitely an 80 hour a week job. It was exciting and high profile so I loved it but then I had kids and needed more family time. A friend recommended a certain employer. We’ll call employer B. Now some important background about my old branch at Employer B is their management structure. First level management is far removed from the work we do. They look at numbers only and have very little interaction with us except for a once a month all team meeting. Team leads, who are senior team members that are effectively unpaid…

A little background: I haven't even been at this place for a year. I started early October of last year. I agreed, even though my intuition told me not to, because they offered me $5,000 more if I was a good fit after my 90 days. 90 days rolls around and Oops, I wasn't good enough. I was a few minutes late getting in and I was still trialing new formulations so I didn't deserve it. We'll try again in another 90 🤡 As time has progressed, I have taken on more and more responsibility off my coworker who isn't very efficient. They were demoted twice and still kept the same pay but now their work is spread between 4 people, including me. I have a team member who has been calling off so the extra responsibility falls on me. I have been burned out for a long time coming.…
Vicious circle
I had a major professional disappointment 10 years ago that camed into my life unexpectedly. Although so much time passed, my mind still cannot accept what happened and every once in a while still searches for causes and answers for what happened. I want to stop this vicious circle ,but I cannot seem to put an end to these thoughts. What to do? What would you do?
This is a PSA!!
If your former employer is holding your paycheck, check your state laws and REPORT THEM!!! I quit my job after many disagreements with my boss (it was apparently unacceptable to take time off for my father’s funeral and for grieving) and she said she would send my paycheck in the mail in 30 days. In the state of Michigan, this is ILLEGAL. I reported her, and it took about 2 weeks to get my check from her through the department of labor. I’ve always had bad luck with reporting employers for their wrongdoings, but I’m glad she got her ass handed to her for this. I was literally eating bread for dinner for a couple weeks because I didn’t have this paycheck. She looks so stupid. I’m glad I can rid of her and that place now.

I used to work at a retirement community doing HVAC, I made $31.50/hour. It was a good place to work and I learned a lot, but left after a year to move into commercial HVAC to continue earning and learning. They were willing to give me a substantial raise but not enough to pause my career growth. They’re offering $33.50/hour for my old position, it’s been almost 4 months since I left and they still can’t find anyone! I don’t think that’s unreasonable – I’m surprised they haven’t found anyone – but given how much they’re paying HVAC contractors, it makes SO much financial sense to just offer $38-40/hour. After leaving, I created an LLC and got some business insurance so now they’re contracting some of their HVAC work out to me! I just have to beat their main HVAC contractor who charges $90/hour, so I charge $75/hour (I know…
Shall I quit
My shift is in two hours but can’t be bothered with this job anymore the manager is a Dick and I don’t really care what he has to say should I quit
I think it's simply ridiculous that we are at the mercy of some sociopaths that we probably won't ever meet about our lively hood. I go to work and see the coworkers just chit-chatting and being “normal”. Don't they realize they all could be replaced in the snap of fingers? How are they so seemingly uncaring about this? The fact i could lose everything in a second, even without my fault is making me so anxious. Most average workers are replaceable in a few hours top, most seniors/managers in a few days . The only somewhat hard to replace workers are the one in healthcare, especially specialized doctors, simply because you need to spend 10 years or so in studying . i worked as a graphic designer last year and for the first time in my life i was making decent living , however for some reason they decided to…
My job wants me to get them food, and other people who come from a different store to visit food. These people come quite often almost once a week, and everytime they visit they ask me to pick them up food and run around to different places or walk across a shopping center to get them food. I just applied to be a cashier-customer service at this place, and didn’t expect i would have to pick up them and my coworkers food with my own gas and time. I hate going to busy restaurants waiting for food that isn’t even mine and i have horrible social anxiety. Am i in the wrong? How can i professionally decline?
