I just started over a week ago. My first week was at a tradeshow and it was nonstop so I was around him probably 16 hours a day. There was another girl with me there so I didn’t feel completely uncomfortable. the CEO is known to be “not corporate“ and likes to joke around a lot and have fun. However I started noticing he constantly “jokes” about his wife in the most desparaging way. Then he makes jokes about being around us girls and to “push his wife’s buttons to make her mad” He’s said he likes to push buttons. Heres the weird behavior I’ve experienced. In the interview he looked me up and down. I didn’t think anything of it but took note of it. Trade show week: again constantly looking me up and down and smiling and making jokes about spending a lot of time together. They also…
Month: May 2024
I edited the Headline. Burger King is going “invest” hundreds of millions of dollars in unnecessary dine in upgrades (that no one wants or asked for) rather than just pay their employees a proper living wage. WTF is going on with this world?
I’m f’ing done with corporate life
It's 1 am and I'm back to work. My son is not yet four days old. My wife just delivered a child last week after an immensely difficult pregnancy. I was looking forward to my two weeks of paternity leave (which is mandatory in my country) to be there for my wife and son. I soon found out that there is no such thing as paternity leave at my startup! Dejected, I decided to use my entire leave balance of ten days as a makeshift paternity leave. On the fourth bloody day of my leave, my manager calls me to 'check in' to see how everything is going. At the end of the call, he not-so-subtly asks me to 'resume work in my free time', 'catch up with the team on call regularly', and 'reply to any emails I send'. I'm bitterly disappointed. I just started this job and I…
response I got this morning
based on my previous post here, this was our managers response (in red) once again Im in yellow. I know some of you pointed out that I wasnt the most professional in how I bought up the issue, the thing is I didnt really expect them to explode over it like they did, I just wanted to bring up that I had some difficulty and it didnt feel safe. As others suggested, I can refuse unsage work, and I actually did try to. I told the girls out front that I was having too much difficulty getting the bags down and if the skip drivers had their own bags could they just take the food unbagged. the skip orders were fine but we had a take out order from a customer and the girl out front didnt want to send her with so many food boxes without a bag. So…
So a member of HR (or so I was told) was in the office today saying hi to everyone as is their job and when they got to me I just made a comment of “another day another dollar” not really paying attention to who was saying hi. A few minutes later I get called into the office with the HR person and the manager asking if I'm happy to be here and that if I'm not that they “value” my happiness over my job. Of course seeing this bullshit as a tactic to gauge (or find reason) to fire me I asked what about my comment offended them to which they replied that I didn't sound “enthusiastic” about my job (which I wasn't but a job's a job). They demanded to know why I wasn't all smiles and rainbows and I just flat out said it's stress and that…
For context I have NEVER engaged in malicious time manipulation, and the marginal amount of times I have left 10 minutes early or arrived 20 minutes late pales in comparison to our director taking EVERY SINGLE MONDAY AND FRIDAY OFF FOR THE PAST 3 MONTHS. Anyway, I had reported my department manager for some inappropriate behavior regarding a contract we were about to lose because she had blatantly lied to the other agency for years. That was Thursday… Friday my team of 3 received an email from a different supervisor apologizing and telling us that he should be the one to blame and that we shouldn’t take things to HR as that wasn’t the “proper channel.” We were told to “trust him” and that he would “make sure the right people heard our concerns.” Fast forward to Monday all three of us are lied to about having a one-on-one with…
How does that boot taste?
That’s it. Kinda. There’s more. She also told me to just go to my car to take breaks and that it’s “it’s not a good look” because the breakroom is right by all the hourly employees’ desks and apparently one of their supervisors saw me in there a few times last week and was wondering how I’m clocking in and out so much. Apparently the fact that I’m salaried and don’t have to clock in and out and can use the breakroom at will was explained to this supervisor, but it’s still an issue for some reason. I’m really in there maybe 3-4 times a day tops for a minute at a time to get water and coffee. Like what the fuck. I’m a 39 year old man. I can’t get water or coffee now because it’s too confusing for other people? This job pays as much as I’d make…
So let me start by explaining that my boss does set off days. For example my coworker is off on friday/saturdays and i’m off sunday/mondays for the last 8 months. I work at a luxury resort as a concierge. We have been extremely busy, so she has decided to have me work sunday-mondays for the last 3 weeks without any of mention of it. Of course that would be overtime as im working 6 days straight but sunday is technically a new week so i haven’t got overtime for any of it. I wasn’t upset because I knew we were very busy and I needed to be there. Well its slowed down a lot, we have no check ins for about 6 days in are specific building and we only do scheduled check ins. Tomorrow is the last day of the schedule and we have not been sent a new…
My girlfriends job
my girlfriends boss tried to blame her forgetting to put my girlfriend on the schedule on my girlfriend because she “should’ve noticed she had too many days off” this is the second time shes done this last time she still went in but we have plans already tomorrow.
