Can we PLEASE normalize decompressing after work?!

There are some days after work where I need a solid hour to decompress from wanting to destroy the world to being loving and supportive at home. Those are rare but it would be nice to have at least a ten minute breather after most days without family and friends (and even work) seeing it as selfish and unsupportive. Thankfully I don’t work a super stressful job personally but I deal with retail customers and some days it makes me hate humans and I need a moment to not bring that home. But usually all I have is the parking lot, the commute or literally home to do that in unless I take a detour to a park but that’s usually asking a lot. So a moment before I have to jump back in the game would be very helpful. Then I can spend the night with better energy, focus…

Are there other Reddit communities more like “old /r/antiwork”?

I think this community is good and valuable, helpful, doing good things. But I do miss an older iteration that was less about “these things about my job / job-seeking are terrible, what do I do” and was more oriented toward questioning whether our whole M-F 9-5 Shareholder Value MBA-Driven Efficiency Optimization society is fundamentally wrong and we need to be collectively looking for better models for the world. I don't think there's any way to roll back the clock on this sub, nor would I want to — again, I see a lot of value here, and I think it's doing good work in the world. But are there other subs that are a bit more into the deep dive philosophy/economics stuff, criticizing the whole building blocks, kicking capitalism's tires stuff?

I hate interviewing

I hate interviewing so much. I have prepped so much for interviews and I'm always very confident and it bothers me so much when I get the “we've gone with someone else” email. I get some folks might have more experience than me, but holy shit, I guess master degree's don't mean anything unless you have 30 years of experience on top of it, and before anyone says it, the jobs I apply to I have more than enough experience for and even come in with plans on what I plan to do, to show my enthusiasm.

Termination for wages discussion

Another one for the pile of employers and the ridiculous contracts they try to make us sign. Per the Nation Labor Relations board, it is unlawful for an employer to stop you from discussing wages with coworkers. Should I sign this and start loudly talking about how much I make with my coworkers to bait management? Should I just refuse to sign this? What do you all think?

“Too expensive to keep” so got let go

My dad just got let go from his job. He worked at the same company for over 20 years and was two years from retirement. He never had a complaint in his file and had received numerous promotions, the last one being only a few weeks ago! They are letting go hundreds of people and told my dad specifically that he is being let go not because of performance (his reviews were always exceptional) but because he is too expensive to keep with all his experience and promotions. He was the top of his career. The best at what he did. He was one of only two people in his department that could even use a certain software. He put in hours and hours and dedicated his life to this company and this job and he loved it. Now they are just throwing him away because of money. The company…

You train people to be robots and slaves and then you complaint why people needs instructions for everything

I work with many organizations as business consultant. And being aware about the antiwork movement i talk a lot about how the bosses are basicallly being asses I tell them, that while they find gratification and profit in trying to exploit and control people, it is harmful in the longer run. If you Don't give some authority, freedom, flexibility to your employees. Then do not expect creativity, passion, and interest in work. If you don't give them good environment and work life balance, don't pay them fair wage. Don't be surprised if they leave your company when they get seemingly better offer somewhere else. Then you end up wasting your hours and weeks in finding “right employees”. Well, may be the problem is not employees. Problem is how you TREAT them. With your harmful ways, you can make a great team member worse. before saying “people dont want to work” Look…
